Dr Webber, Dr Bailey, Alex, Sadie and I stood outside Jackson's room. Melinda, Jackson's Mom walked out.
"Any word from U. N. O. S.?" Melinda asked.
"Not yet. Dr Karev is staying in constant contact with them," Dr Webber said.
"How much longer will we have to wait? Are ... are livers and intestines hard to find?" Melinda asked.
"Well, Jackson's blood type is o-positive. It shouldn't be too difficult to match," Sadie said.
"But he's had blood transfusions, which means there could be extra antibodies that are hard to match, so we need to be patient, Melinda," Dr Bailey said. "In the meantime, um, I need to run some tests on Jackson to check his electrolytes,"
"We're gonna do everything we can to help your son, Mrs Prescott. All of us," Dr Webber said. He walked away with Alex.
"You. You're squirrelly," Dr Bailey said to Sadie.
"I'm sorry?" Sadie asked.
"I don't trust you. I don't trust you in this hospital and I certainly don't trust you with my patient of three years who are extremely important. If you want to stay on this case, you will stay out of my way, you will do what I tell you, and if you have something to say to or about my patient, you will raise your hand and wait to be called on," Dr Bailey said.
"You ... you've got to be kidding me," Sadie said. She raised her hand.
"Yes," Dr Bailey asked.
"This is a joke, right?" Sadie asked.
"Do I look like I'm laughing?" Dr Bailey walked away. Sadie looked at me.
"We told you that you lost a lot of people's respect. Dr Bailey doesn't show you blind respect you've got to earn it, to begin with," I said. Sadie walked away.
Timeskip
I was helping Dr Bailey run tests on Jackson.
"Why can't I have that nice man's organs? He offered," Jackson said. He and Dr Bailey had bumped into Meredith and her death-row patient.
"You know how in school, there are rules you have to follow? Well, the same goes for here. We have to follow the rules, or else we get in big trouble," I said.
"And what that man offered you ... was definitely against the rules," Dr Bailey said.
"She's fighting with the insurance people again," Jackson said looking at his mom who was on the phone outside the room.
"You're not supposed to worry about stuff like that," Dr Bailey said.
"Tell her something good today, even if nothing good happens, she needs good news," Jackson said.
Timeskip
Alex and Arizona went to get organs for Jackson. I walked into the canteen to grab a cup of coffee.
"Sage," I turned to see Derek's Mom.
"Mrs Shepherd," I said. She pulled me into a hug.
"We've got a lot to catch up on," Mrs Shepherd said.
"We do but I'm about to go prep a patient for surgery," I said.
"You and Addison got married quickly," Mrs Shepherd said.
"I know you don't like Addison. We were engaged for 5 months before we got married. We had a beautiful wedding. We went to Portugal for our honeymoon. It was gorgeous you'd love it and now we're fostering two amazing boys named Charlie and Harry," I said.
