Instead of biting her nails while waiting for him to come back, Eiry took the chance to unbox a few more of the things they brought with them. This time, their records. She disposed them all on the shelves in the living room and put the record player on the side of the TV, lacking a better place, ready to play their music. It took some time since they liked to order them by artist and they had more than one hundred records. Though she tried to distract herself, she felt anxious. It was difficult not to feel anxious since that morning, since that phone call. Anxiety is normal when something that big was on the line and she was dying to know every little detail. Eddie didn't call nor did he come back and the sky was getting dark already. Eiry stopped in front of the sliding window not daring to open it and step on the balcony. Arms crossed over her chest looking outside trying to get acquainted with the still unfamiliar view. Nightfall arrived with a whisper of a perfect black that grew into a comforting chorus of clouds fluttering in a heaven spun wind. The park became silvery and the shadows of the tress blended with the darkness. The laughter of the children that made her company all afternoon died along with the light of the day. Everything was silent. The wind was blowing strong, making the trees sway and rustle. It was a soothing sound though. She ran her hands along her arms as if feeling the breeze cooling her skin though it was so warm and cozy inside their apartment.
"Come on, boo..." She whispered voicing her wish to hear some news out loud and as if the universe had heard her, the telephone rang and Eiry shuddered as the loud rings spooked her. "Fuck!" Eiry giggled and ran her hands over her naked arms but to calm her goose bumped skin as she walked to the white telephone. "Hello..." She said when finally got the call.
"Hi, love." Eddie greeted her quietly, so typical of him and her skin reacted again but to his voice.
"Boo..." She exclaimed, leaning with her back against the wall and rolling the wire around her finger. "I am dying here!"
"I'm sorry I left you alone the whole day." Eddie took a deep breath and ran his hand over his long curly hair. "Are you feeling better?"
"I am." A soft smile delineated on her lips. "I took another aspirin. after lunch." Then, she grunted low. "But I don't want to talk about my giant hangover, boo. How was it? When are you coming home?"
"Would you like to come to Kelly's house?" Eddie asked instead. "Hey..." Eddie protested and laughter followed.
"You need to come here!" She heard Stone yelling on the phone and she had to pull away. Everything shook inside her mind and Eiry cringed.
"I'm sorry, love..." Eddie giggled. "...but we're all a bit euphoric. We're celebrating and I'd like you to be here."
"Boo..." She pouted as if he could see him. "I want to celebrate with you, but there's just guys there and I don't want to intrude."
"No, babe." Eddie smiled. "Camila is here and Mike's girlfriend is also coming. I want you here, love. You have to celebrate with me." He insisted.
"Give me the address..." She asked, opening the drawer to grab a pen and a notebook. An important event like that, she could not be elsewhere but with him.
"Are you ready?"
"I am..." Eiry held the phone between her shoulder and her ear. "Shoot."
"1301, Spring Street."
"Ok..." She put the notebook down. "I'm going to change and I'll get a cab. Boo... I'm so proud of you."
"I can't believe it..." He shrieked low. "I just can't..." Eiry laughed.
"You deserve it, babe." Her eyes watered that moment and her lips trembled. "I love you." She said as she cleaned her eyes but her voice was teary.
"Hurry up, love." He whispered. "I want you here."
