It was a gloomy morning with dark clouds looming over the city, casting a shadow over everything in sight. The sky was an amalgamation of various shades of gray, like an artist's palette gone awry. The clouds were thick and heavy, pregnant with raindrops. They seemed to stretch across the horizon endlessly, creating an eerie atmosphere that sent shivers down her spine. Nature unleashed its full fury upon Seattle, and the strong rain battered relentlessly against their window. The sound of raindrops hitting the glass created a symphony that resonated deep within her soul. Each droplet seemed to carry its own unique rhythm, blending together in perfect harmony. As Eiry pressed her face against the cold windowpane, she watched as water cascaded down in torrents, blurring the world outside. The wind howled fiercely, adding an creepy soundtrack to the natural spectacle. The trees swayed violently under its forceful grip, their branches dancing wildly in protest. Her hair still wet from the morning shower, impregnating the air with vanilla scent. Her cardigan wrapped tightly around her body despite the warmth inside the apartment. The steam rising from her cup danced in harmony with the rain, creating an ethereal ambiance that filled the room. She held the delicate porcelain cup in her hands, feeling its smooth surface against her skin. The warmth seeped into her palms, spreading a comforting sensation throughout her body. With each sip, Eiry could taste the rich flavors of chamomile and honey intertwining on her tongue. It was as if every sip transported her to a place of tranquility and serenity. Since her pregnancy discovery, she replaced coffee for tea every morning.
"No morning sickness?" Eddie asked as he was on the speaker. Eiry smiled and shook her head as if he could see her.
"No... not since the doctor prescribed those pills." She told him, taking another sip of her tea.
"I miss you..." He breathed as he ran his fingers through his curls in bed.
After another show he was tired and every day that passed, he missed her more and more. Weeks have passed since they only talked twice a day and important things were happening at home. They were on the verge of buying their first house as Eddie loved the photos he received. Since then, Eiry had been arranging everything with the real estate. However, more importantly, her pregnancy. He was missing out on her transformations. He was missing out on doctor's appointments. On sharing her ups and downs. When he'd be able to be with her, she would be in the second trimester which meant he'd miss her bump starting to show. It was such a delicate period that he only wanted to be near her.
"I miss you too..." Eiry breathed, taking a deep breath. "But we are both fine. The doctor confirmed it again yesterday, and you're working so... there's nothing to worry about, boo."
"Can't you come meet me?" Eddie asked. "I regret so much that I sent you back home..."
"Boo..." Eiry gasped. "With all that is happening right now it's difficult to travel. I have the papers with the real estate to sign and things to prepare concerning the house. You know I asked them to find us good contractors so they can change it the way we talked. Someone has to be here to supervise it. There are doctor's appointments... plus... I came back to work..."
"I know..." Eddie nodded as he adjusted the pillow on his back. "It's just that it's so hard to be away right now. I feel like so much is happening, and I am missing out on everything..." He paused for a second. "Everything that really matter."
"Your career also matters!" Eiry turned around, hearing the wind whistling and bringing more rain against the glass. She sat on the furry carpet, crossed her legs, and rested her cup of tea on the coffee table. "You fought for this."
"But you're pregnant, Eiry!" He retorted. "We wanted it so much and now that it's here I'm missing out on it. I'm not there to see your belly grow. I'm not there to help you with anything. You're on your own... not to mention..." He shut his eyes and took a dep breath. "You know what..."
