Walking into Nando's sent a wave of memories to crash on me.
I start breathing heavily and I guess Ashton notices because he immediately grasps my hand and intertwines our fingers.
"Are you okay?" He whispers as we walk behind Michael and Luke to find a table.
I gulp hard but I don't bother answering.
It's weird that a fucking restaurant has emotional memories. Normally I get emotional because the food is so good but this is different.
We sit down and order our foods and drinks before talking about whatever there is.
"I used to come here with Jack when I lived at home," I blurt out.
"He always took me here when mom and dad fought and mom took you away. I guess he knew how to cheer me up," I tell Luke, taking a sip of my drink.
Ashton still holds my hand under the table, gliding his thumb over my hand and tightening his grip every time I talk about something in the past or when I look worried.
"Luke can I ask you something?" I say after a little bit of silence.
"Mhm," he nods his head.
"How did Mom let you leave? Like how did you leave home?" I ask.
"I kind of ran away," he shrugs his shoulders. "I was 15 maybe and she went out, probably to get hammered, and I just kinda left. I went to Calum's house and he let me stay there for a little,"
"Obviously she didn't care enough about me or she would've looked for me." He finishes.
Once our food comes, we sit in silence while we shove our mouths with the delicious foods.
After eating and paying, we drive back to the boys' house to hang out for a bit.
