It was a dark and gloomy day in the Pridelands. Heavy rains were pouring from skies filled with dark clouds and wind was blowing hard from every direction. The majordomo of the King of the Pridelands had just arrived and was dripping wet. "Sorry I am late your Majesty, these conditions were difficult to fly in," Zazu explained. "That is quite alright," the King nodded, dreading that soon he too would have to go out into that weather. "I am sorry to report that not only are there your everyday tasks to attend to, but extra things are already piling up and the weather is making things worse," the majordomo said. Mufasa sighed. "Alright, thank you Zazu. I'll head out in a few minutes. Can you meet me en route?" he asked. The hornbill nodded before flying back out into the rain.

"This weather is absolutely horrible," Sarabi stated as she walked up and sat beside her mate. Mufasa agreed and asked what kind of plans she had in store for today. "Unfortunately, the hunting party has to move further out into the Pridelands today and because of the rain it will take us extra time to get there," she explained. "Alright, well we better inform Simba and then get going," Mufasa said. "What do you have to tell me?" a voice said from behind them. The King and Queen turned their heads to see their son walking up to them. "Well your father and I have quite a busy day ahead of us, so we'll be gone for most of the day," Sarabi explained. Simba grinned, a little too mischievously perhaps, and his dad saw right through him. "But no going and getting any crazy ideas," he warned. Simba pouted. Mufasa motioned towards the weather outside. "This weather is too dangerous to be out in, so you and Nala will be staying inside or playing outside with a chaperone," he stated. The Prince started to protest but his parents would not budge with the rules. "We will see you later tonight," they both said as they gave Simba a nuzzle each and exited the den.

It wasn't like Simba enjoyed the rain that much, but when he wasn't allowed to do something it became that much more interesting. "So, did your parents forbid you from going out into the rain too," a voice asked. "Yeah, it's not fair Nala," he complained. Nala nodded in agreement. Sarafina, Nala's mother, hadn't joined the hunting party yet and watched the two cubs sit by the entrance to the den. "Hey you two," she called. Both cubs turned around. "I'll take you both down to the water hole before I need to meet up with the rest of the lionesses, but then you have to go back inside once I leave you, alright?" she said. Simba and Nala smiled and nodded excitedly.

As soon as they got outside they realized what their parents had warned them of. Although the winds were lessening and it wasn't as dark outside, the rain had caused the rocks to become very slippery. One misstep and it could potentially be very dangerous for a small cub. Sarafina helped the two cubs down Priderock, waited for them as they drank and left them by the foot of the rock formation. "Now remember what I told you," she said firmly. "Straight up and back inside," she said, nudging them up the stairs. "Okay, okay, we're going mom," Nala replied. Once the two cubs had reached the top and Sarafina was out of sight, Simba motioned for Nala to follow him. "Hey now that everyone is gone, I have an idea," he said grinning. "So you know how the rocks are super slippery from all that rain?" he asked. Nala nodded smiling, she knew her best friend very well and knew where this was going. "I was thinking we could turn one of the slopes into a sort of slide," he suggested. The pair, being quite the adventurous daredevil types, quickly found a part of Priderock where this game would be possible and started playing on their new 'slide'. It wasn't long before the two cubs were soaking wet, muddy and smiling from head to toe. They had completely lost track of time and before they knew it they heard the sound of the majordomo arriving. "Oh no," Simba exclaimed. Nala frowned. "What? What is it?" she asked. "I hear Zazu! We have to go back now, Nala," he explained. "Come on, quickly there won't be much time before..." However he didn't finish his sentence as he and Nala almost ran into dripping wet Zazu. "Simba! Nala!" the bird exclaimed. "What ARE you two doing out here?" he questioned. "You're not supposed to be out here," he continued. "And how do you know that," Simba asked. "Because I know everything young Prince," the majordomo explained. Both cubs rolled their eyes. Zazu scoffed. "I see how it is, well I am telling your parents at once," he said as he started to open his wings. "Wait no! Come on Zazu, please!" Nala pleaded. "Yeah, please don't tell mom and dad. We...uhh...we'll umm..." Simba stammered. Now it was Zazu's turn to roll his eyes but then he sighed. "You two have to deal with the consequences of your actions. I can't keep covering for you. Especially this time," Zazu said. The two cubs sighed and lowered their heads. "Fine, let's go," Simba said quietly.

As they entered the den with Zazu and saw that both their parents had arrived back home, Nala exchanged a quick glance with Simba. They knew they were in trouble now, so the pair sat down and listened as they got lecture after lecture on how irresponsible and careless their little game had been. However, at the end of the day, as disappointed as they were in their children, the parents had most of all just been concerned and worried about the safety and wellbeing of their cubs. And though it was hard to believe, so had Zazu, even if it was something Simba and Nala were yet to learn and wouldn't until they were adults.
