"It means I'm ready and willing to try... with you."
Varian can barely believe he heard those words come from Cassandra's mouth. Of course, he still barely believes that she kissed him. That she admitted to having feelings for him. That she wants to be with him. It has been a whirlwind of a day, and it feels like a dream. But he hopes for things to only get better from here.
Upon returning to Arendelle castle, Queen Anna gives them a brief tour of the palace and escorts them to their individual rooms. "If you need anything please just ask me, Elsa, or Kristoff," she tells them. "Oh, and there's a meeting room down the hall you can use if you need a place to conduct research on your orbs or whatever!"
Cassandra helps Varian settle into his room. He sits down on the edge of the cushiony bed, unable to tear his eyes away from the gorgeous features that make up her face. Her dark, stern eyes. Her perfectly arched eyebrows. Her plump, red lips. He has always considered her beautiful, but something has changed now that these features belong to a woman whom he has the honor of calling his. His Cassie.
And I am hers, he thinks proudly. I am actually hers! She has finally allowed him to give her his heart, and he has never felt happier in his life.
Glancing around to make sure nobody else is around, she pushes his bangs back and plants a gentle kiss on his forehead before heading to her own room. Even after all that she has done and said regarding her feelings for him, this small display of affection takes him by surprise. This is gonna take some getting used to, he thinks gleefully.
Now that he is alone, Varian digs through his backpack and pulls out a few supplies to create his own splint. His leg doesn't hurt quite as much as it did earlier, but he believes this may be from the euphoria he still feels from kissing Cassandra. His leg needs support, and this makeshift splint of his will have to do.
As he finishes putting on the splint, Hugo suddenly appears at the door. "Knock-knock," he says.
"Oh, hey," Varian says, standing up to test that the splint is working. It is solid enough to give him the support he needs to walk on his own, so he is satisfied.
