The hour is growing later. Cassandra should be going to bed, but she knows she wouldn't be able to sleep. After an amazing first date with Varian, and his newest discovery with the orbs, there is too much to be excited about for her brain to shut down. So instead, she is sitting in the meeting room with him and his raccoon, the latter of which is curled up in a chair sound asleep.
Queen Anna, being the sweet girl that she is, told Cassandra she could have the run of the castle. So Cass decides to take a break from distracting Varian, change out of her date clothes into something more comfortable, and heads to the kitchen to make herself some soothing tea. While she's there she makes Varian a cup of coffee, as well. She figures he'll probably be at his work for a while, so he'll need it.
As she walks back into the meeting room and sets the coffee in front of him, he doesn't so much as raise his head. Did he even realize she left? She stands next to him, unable to take her eyes off of him. He is so confident, so determined. He has an air of maturity about him, an unwavering stability in his resolve to complete his work and unravel this mystery.
And it is extremely attractive. How has she never noticed any of this before?
He is so immensely engaged in tracing the journal pages that he has been utterly unaware of anything else, but he must sense her gaze upon him because he finally meets her eyes. "What's wrong?" He asks, genuine concern in his voice. "Is there something on my face?"
Cassandra chuckles. It is so cute how he still isn't quite used to the fact that they are together now. "Yes, your lips. Now give 'em." Pulling him toward her by his shirt collar, she crashes her lips into his. His eyes widen at this sudden display of affection, but then they slide closed and he melts into her deep kiss.
"Sorry," she says once they separate. "I couldn't resist."
"That is never something you have to apologize for," he says, a smitten expression on his face.
