Nitro
"I refuse." Lawman glares at me from across the church table.
"Lawman, you can refuse all you want, but I am staking my claim on her. I want her as my old lady and I'm confident she will say yes." I stake my claim holding my angry eyes on Lawman's. She's mine and I am hers. I'm not losing her. I don't give a fuck how much Lawman refuses. He will just have to learn to love it.
"So, you haven't even asked her?" he smirks as if he might know something I don't. What he doesn't realize is, it's the other way around. He doesn't know Lily and I love each other.
"No. Before I officially asked her, I wanted to ask you in private before speaking to the club. I respect you and I respect the hell out your daughter. Which is why I wanted to do this right, especially after what she's been through." My eyes stay on his.
"So, you show your respect by staking your claim on her now. By taking away my justice for her?" he demands, and I can see the anger in his eyes.
"I do this now, because I promised her, I'd kill him. I also do this now because you forced my hand. If I don't claim her now, when it means killing for her, then I don't fucking deserve her. And I want her as my old lady too fucking badly to give up any chance at having that." I lean over the table glaring at him.
"Alright brothers, we'll call a hold on this until the next church meeting." Bruce interrupts us and I can feel his eyes on us as we continue to stare at each other. Bruce continues,
"I'm issuing a temporary lockdown. Everyone has two hours to take care of personal business. I want the place emptied of anyone that isn't a member, an old lady or related to a member. No one leaves and no one comes in. Depending on what Nitro and Spike find out, we might be here for a while. Lawman, you need to go back to your place for anything?" Bruce asks as Lawman glances at him.
"No" he shakes his head before returning his angry eyes to mine.
"Nitro, you?" Bruce asks and I glance at him wondering where the hell he's going with this.
"Yes" I have to get mine and Lily's things from the cabin. I have some shit here, but Lily has nothing.
"Great, Lawman ride with him. You two use this time to talk some shit out. I hope that when we get around to discuss it, you two have come to an understanding on Lily and an agreement on Steven's kill shot. Being a father and an old man, you both deserve it, so don't make me choose it. Understand?" Bruce says sternly glancing from Lawman to me. Lawman and I nod our understanding.
"Dismissed." Bruce shouts and hits the gavel, and we pile out of the room.
I stand from my chair; I think of Bruce's words. Soon, I will be an old man, a husband and hopefully a father. If someone hurt my child the way someone hurt Lawman's, I'd want vengeance just as badly. Lily is his flesh and blood. His only daughter. I can understand the need and want Lawman has to protect her. But fuck, she's the woman I love. The woman I want as my wife and the mother of my children. The woman that I have promised to protect. The woman I want to protect forever.
Lawman stops me as soon as I enter the bar, "I brought the truck up. We can take it." His voice is angry but civil.
"Sounds great. I need to check on Lily. Give me five minutes." I tell him and disappear up the stairs to our room before he can stop me. I find Army leaning up against the door on his phone.
"How is she?" I ask as I approach him.
"Not a word from her but she's playing guitar. She's pretty fucking good." He stands pushing his phone into his back pocket. Fuck, I haven't heard her play yet. All this time at the cabin and we haven't played together yet. I have to fix that.
"Take five minutes and then come back. You'll be out here for a while longer while I get some stuff from the cabin, we're going on lockdown." I advise him and he nods his head. Army is one of the prospects that lives at the clubhouse full time, so lockdown is nothing for him.
"Yes sir" he responds and takes off down the hall towards the stairs.
When I open the door, Lily is leaning against the headboard, with my acoustic guitar in her lap. Her black hair falls around her and the guitar. She glances up at me as I walk in and her mouth curves into a huge smile. She's fucking gorgeous. I'm the luckiest man in the entire fucking world.
"Hey, Little One, I see you found my guitar." I grin at her, closing the door closed behind me. I make my way to her quickly, needing her in my arms now. She sets the guitar beside her as I sit next to her and pull her into my arms.
"Yeah, I'm wide awake and my mind is racing. I hope you don't mind." She asks wrapping her arms around my neck and playing with the hair on the back of my head.
"Never. What is mine, is yours." I kiss her gently on the forehead.
"You're not back for good, are you?" she asks glancing down at my cut.
"I'm afraid not, Little One. Bruce has called a temporary lockdown." I tell her, realizing that she probably has no clue what I'm talking about.
"What's that?" Her confused expression proves me right.
"We can't leave the clubhouse, baby. All members and their families are here and no one else is allowed in. We're hoping it will be lifted after my interrogation with Steven, but it could be extended." I brush the hair out of her eyes and tuck it behind her ear.
"Is that where you're going right now?" she asks and the fingers she has laced in my hair freeze at my mention of Steven.
"No, right now I'm running to the cabin with your dad to get some of our stuff." I tell her.
"Can I go?" I can see the urgency in her face and my heart melts knowing she wants to go back there so badly.
"No, we don't know how safe it is." I tell her, hating the look of disappointment on her face.
"Well, then why does Dad have to go? He's going to see that we've been basically sharing a room." She looks at me concerned as if our secret is about to be out.
"I don't think there's a basically about it, Little One. The only thing in the guest room are your almost empty suitcases. Majority of your things are in our room on a chair. Although, come to think of it. We might have left some clothes in the living room." I tease her and watch her face go pink with embarrassment. We didn't leave any clothes there; I just like teasing her.
"Stop it. I don't want him to find out this way." She says, trying not to laugh.
"Little One, he already knows. So, what were you playing? Army said it sounded pretty fucking good." I nod to the guitar. I find myself jealous that Army has heard her before I have.
"Sweet Child O' Mine." She grins at me knowing it's one of the songs from my favorite band.
"Seriously, on acoustic? I have to hear this." I know how to play majority of their stuff on guitar, but I've never slowed it down to play on acoustic. The fact that she's doing it, is fucking awesome.
She grins and begins to scoot off my lap to pick up the guitar, only to be stopped by the dreaded knock at the door with Army letting me know he's back. Fuck.
"That's Army. Will you play it for me later?" I place my hand on her cheek and look into her beautiful eyes.
"Of course, Dawson." She whispers as she leans in to kiss me.
