chapter 41 damn bro
IDK WHAT TO WRITE NEXT SO THIS IS A FILLER CHAPTER
3rd person pov!
its been 1 week since the double date, max is still in the hospital, they're just doing their last checks on her before she can go home.
she's been sick since that day, she has been weak, and constantly coughing as well. the doctors say she has a common cold- nothing major, buttttt, her foot is still hurting like crazy, but she's making a full recovery, yippee!
they're keeping her in the hospital for about two more days, max has been complaining about being very tired lately, not having a lot of energy to get up so she's just been sleeping a lot, barely eating as well, mainly because the hospital food isn't very good. the doctor said max cannot drink coffee, but she's not really a coffee type of girl, they've only been serving her stuff like, yogurt, gross dry steak, broccoli, and peanuts. pretty plain stuff. everyone can tell she's ready to go home and be able to eat whatever she likes. such as cookies, chocolate, spaghetti and meatballs for sure! max loves meatballs. el has been pretty much acting like a worried mom, forcing max the hospital food so max can have energy, and be strong. but max hates it.
"come on, just one bite." el says, fed up.
max just shakes her head no, staring at the plate of peas and steak in front of her.
"you have to eat, or else you won't be able to go home in two days! they'll say you don't have enough energy."
el scoops some peas up on a plastic spoon and brings it over to max's mouth, max turns her head away, then el decides to give up. until, a nurse walks into the room. the same nurse that has been providing max her food, checking on her, and stuff.
"still not eating?" the nurse questions.
"nope, she's as stubborn as a bull." el sighs.
the nurse chuckles.
"well, max, what if we make a deal."
max turns her head to the nurse.
"if you eat half of your steak, and majority of your peas, i'll let you have half of a donut." the nurse suggests.
max's eyes practically light up, she really wants that donut.
the redhead looks at el, then the nurse. "okay." max sighs.
el smiles and looks at the nurse.
"thank you." el mouths.
the nurse smiles, and motions to the door. "ill be back in 15!"
max looks over at el who is giving her a clever look.
max just groans and tries to sit up, her arms shake as she is using them to support her.
el adjusts the bed, so max is now almost-fully sitting up.
max pretty much gagged as the food touched her tongue, she had a miserable look on her face after every bite.
el cheered for max after she slowly finished her food, and as promised, she got her half-of-a donut.
"so max, after you finish your donut were gonna get you to do some exercises, such as walking with your crutches so you can get the hang of it, also. you haven't really been walking for awhile." the nurse says.
max groans, causing el to slightly giggle.
"fine." max eventually agrees.
after finishing her donut, max gets help from el and the nurse to stand. they then help her sit in a wheelchair. the nurse then pushes her through the halls until they reach a room with a doctor sitting on an armchair, max's nurse hands her some crutches.
the nurse leaves the room, now it's just el, the doctor and max.
"hey max, i'm doctor Greene, let's start off today by asking some simple questions, then we'll move onto the harder stuff." Dr Greene starts.
max nods.
"How are you feeling today?"
"tired." max says.
"mhm, and how does your foot feel?"
"it still hurts, not as bad as before."
"okay, and have you tried walking with your crutches?"
"no, not yet."
"okay, well, we're going to make sure you get the hand of it today."
max nods.
"i'm gonna ask some more questions to get to know you."
"firstly, what do you like doing in your free time?"
"I like reading comics, uh... hanging out with my friends, skating." max shrugs.
"skating? fun."
"mhm."
"okay, let's move on, I'm gonna help you out with adjusting the crutches."
the doctor walks over to max and helps her stand.
"I know how to use crutches." max giggles.
"okay, I understand, but this is a procedure before you go home."
max nods.
Dr Greene adjusts the crutches until max is comfortable walking with them, she then had max walk around the room with them a couple of times, not a very big space, but It still helped out. max wasn't very fast with using the crutches, since that she has been feeling weak lately. she was slow at first, but then she got the hang of it.
"at this rate, you'll be better before you know it!" the doctor smiles.
max smiles back.
"ill let you go back to your room, and we'll see how you're feeling tomorrow, do you think you're good to walk with your crutches back to your room?"
max nods.
el and max walk back to max's hospital room, max immediately goes to her bed, el gets out some comics, and reads to max until she's asleep.
