This is the most exciting chapter I think! ENJOY!
Chapter forty-four
Marshall’s POV:
I began playing with the dials on the mixer, staring into space. She is all I think about night and day, asleep and awake, no matter where I go I see her face. I feel lost without her, that feeling I had when I was around with her was gone. I felt like the old Marshall again, and I hated it. I can’t sleep without knowing if she’s next to me, I can’t eat, I feel like I’m slowly dying. My girls don’t look the same; they’re not themselves. I never knew one person could make an impact like she has. I kept adjusting the dials not thinking what I was doing.
“Slim what you doing man?” said Yelawolf, I snap out of my daze. I forgot Michael was recording in the booth.
“Oh, sorry man…trying something” I fibbed. Michael took off his headphones, he looked pretty ticked, “That’s the fourth time you’ve been trying something” he said. Dre was eyeing me from across the way, “Ok, fellas let’s call it a day” announced Dre. “Man don’t worry I got the original recording without the mixing” said Dre to Michael. I looked over at Dre and saw his disappointment, what was I going to say? Michael packed up his backpack, “Hey sorry man” I said, “It’s all good” Michael replied, we shook hands, he said his goodbyes to Dre and left.
We drove Dre’s recording studio to record my album, I was exhausted but my mind was still fix on her. I wonder if anybody noticed my change in attitude, I hopped not. Dre kept glaring at me in the same disappointed look. “What?” I asked, Dre shook his head, “When are you going to cave in, you stubborn punk?” he said, I looked at him, he has never curse at me like that before. It kind of pissed me off.
I cleared my throat, “What are you talking about?” I asked stupidly. Thinking about it, I actually deserve to be called a stubborn punk. “Slim, you are not dumb you know what I mean!” he said. We pulled into the parking lot and turned off the car. I leaned back on the car seat and sighed sharply. “Slim, you have it all…amazing music, the glory, the respect, three beautiful girls who love Natalia like she was their mother…” he said, “None of it matters without her” I admit it. Dre nodded, “And you’re going to let the next greatest thing slip through your fingers then you’re letting other opportunities of a better life pass you by” said Dre.
I looked over at him knowing this lecture wasn’t over but he was trying to find words to say, “Does it matter how old she is? Does it matter she hasn’t walked in your shoes all the way? Does it matter that she knew Eminem first then Marshall?” he asked. “Marshall made Eminem, Marshall wrote all those lyrics…Marshall Mathers is on your birth certificate…she knew you long before she knew Eminem” he said. I knew the point he was making, “give her a chance” he said.
I licked my lips a couple of times thinking over and over for something to say, “I would give up my fame and my life to be in her fame and her life” I mumbled. I chocked on my words feeling my pulse go out of control, I felt like something was changing me. “What are you going to do?” asked Dre. I chuckled, “Her college graduation is…” my eyes popped out and I checked my watch. “HOLY SHIT!” I exclaimed. “What’s wrong?” Dre asked, “Her college graduation is in a few hours, I’ll never make it!” I panic. “Oh my God!” I exclaimed, “Ok! OK! We’ll get you on a plane” said Dre. He bustled around to get his cell-phone. I felt my heart race and my mind going blank, “Text her and ask her what time” said Dre. I checked my pockets for my pockets and reached in for my phone.
