Chapter sixty-three
The restraining order went into effect and life has been peaceful. Hailie was sleeping in her own room again and Marshall isn’t as tired as he was a month ago. I sat in the car with my mom; we were going out to buy some baby clothes. Which was going to be difficult considering I don’t know what it is. I want my kid to best looking one in the schools. I want everyone to say hey there goes Ronnie or Anabelle. My wedding is more than two months away and I grow more excited for that then the excitement for my baby. I can’t wait till it says mama or dada or sissy.
“Natalia, put this on” asked my mother as we pulled up to the ‘store’ “What ma, stop being stupid were going to Babies R Us” I said. My mother forced it over my eyes and helped me out of the car. I held my hands out in front of me to prevent bumping into walls. My sense have completely gone blank. We stopped and my mother removed the blind fold….
“SURPRISE!” I should’ve known I should’ve known! It was a bridal shower or a baby shower. The decorations were a mixture. My face was blank at first but then went to a stiff smile. I was utterly thrown back. Everyone was there including my girls! Whitney ran up to me and gave me a hug. Naomi, Desmond and Nathan even surprised me! I was happy to see them. Nathan couldn’t stop rubbing my belly and kept saying, “it’s a boy it’s a pon” as if he could see right in me.
Marshall came up to me and hugged me and kissed me. For once he had no hat on, sweatpants, sneakers or baggy shirts. He was very clean and cut, dress up shoes and a button down. I always thought he was handsome but looking at him now, he’s gorugous. “You planned this didn’t you?” I asked him. “Partly, Naomi my mom, your mom, and the girls did!” said Marshall. Debbie came up to me and shaked my hand, I was a little nervous to see her, I only knew her through Marshall’s music…you fill in the gaps. “I’m so happy to finally meet you” Debbie said, she sounded so sincere. “Uh..it’s nice to meet you too” I said, I was a little nervous. She gave me a hug and a kiss and said that she was happy to know Marshall found a good person.
Debbie and I started talking and asked me the basic questions, “Where did you grow up honey?” she asked. “I grew up in uh Newark” I said, my accent slip out slightly. “Oh you grew up there all your life?” she asked as she ate salad, she seemed interested, “Pretty much…I lived back and forth my parents” I said. I started eating lasguna, “Where is your father by the way?” she asked. I put my head down and remembered the horrible truth, “My dad has been dead for a couple of months now” I said sadly, “Oh my! I’m so very sorry!” she exclaimed as if she spill soda all over me. “No its ok really” I said, “My dad gave me his full blessings way before I meet Marshall” I said. “What you mean?” she asked, “My dad somehow in some shape or form knew I would meet Marshall” I said. She gave gentle aw as my mother came into the conversation. “I don’t dare to ask about Marshall’s dad…but I never knew Marshall had brothers or sisters who which were here. They were very nice.
The next thing we did was open the hundreds of baby clothes and baby furntiture for the baby’s room which Marshall started on the week after I got pregnant. Everyone cracked jokes about some of the stuff and how it would be related to Marshall or to me or just cracked jokes about the stuff in general. Still Marshall and I loved the clothes and the furntiture. Debbie gave Marshall a more personal gift, she said, “It belonged to you when you were a baby” Marshall opened the box and took out a small necklace with a little cross at the end, and on the back it had
