"Really, Kirishima, I'm fine," Yuki insisted as Kirishima ushered her into the lobby of 1-A's dorms.
"No!" He shook his head furiously, "I couldn't live with myself!"
Yuki tilted her head and studied Kirishima before sighing. He was being sincere and was a bit excited. Yuki followed him into the kitchen, and Yuki wasn't shocked to see the layout was identical to her building.
"Sparky—" Bakugo cut himself off when his crimson eyes narrowed at Yuki.
"I'm gonna cook for Yuki!"
Yuki shook under Bakugo's gaze. Then, a small smirk grew on her lips, mimicking Bakugo's own features. "With your trash cooking skills?"
"Well, yeah?" Kirishima was uncertain with himself as Bakugo walked to the fridge to pull out more food.
Bakugo rolled his eyes. "I'll cook. Go get your damn book, you need to study for the exam tomorrow."
"I couldn't leave Yuki—"
"I'll keep Chicken Bones company," Bakugo huffed.
Kirishima smiled and nodded at Yuki before promising he'd be right back. When Bakugo turned around, he was much more tired looking than when Kirishima was there. Yuki felt her body tense as they made eye contact, and Bakugo huffed and looked away.
Bakugo placed a gallon of milk on the counter that read "Baku Squad!" written in neat sharpie ink. Yuki sat cautiously at a stool by the island, watching Bakugo. He pulled something else out of the pantry, before his narrow eyes landed on Yuki again.
"Spicy or not?"
"Not." On an empty stomach, spicy food was dangerous.
"Wrong." Bakugo placed chili paste on the counter and a large bowl.
Yuki's brows furrowed. "Why ask, then?"
Bakugo shrugged and busied himself with cutting green onions. Yuki studied him before she cleared her throat. "You're easy."
"What?"
"Your emotions bundled in your gut," Yuki said. "They're so easy to read. Once you get past that pit of anger at least. Why hide?"
He glared at her and she regretted saying that—it might've been best as a secret. Most people she had to genuinely decipher to determine what exact emotion they were feeling yet Bakugo's felt like they were painted across the sky.
He diced meat. "Well then," he grumbled, "stop it."
"I can't," Yuki admitted. "It's always active...like a mutation type quirk."
Yuki leaned forward and rested her chin on her hand to study Bakugo. Despite his clenched jaw, he appeared fairly relaxed. His ashy hair covered his gaze as his hands busied themselves.
"That's lame."
Yuki grunted in agreement.
Before he could say anything else, Kirishima bounded back into the kitchen with a textbook and notebook. He slid next to Yuki and opened it before turning to his notebook.
Yuki glanced over. "Whoa! My class did that last week!"
"Really?"
"Yeah, it's not that hard. I can help you!"
"You would do that?" Kirishima's eyes widened like a child looking at a candy booth.
"Sure, it's not a big deal. Besides, I have to repay you somehow."
Kirishima beamed and Yuki tugged the textbook between them. She glanced at Bakugo when a wave of resentment washed over her. Bakugo dropped his vegetables in a boiling soup base and Yuki's head started to hurt.
"Hey, you don't look good!" Kirishima grabbed Yuki's arm.
"I'm fine." Yuki gulped and held her stomach. She fought a wave of nausea and leaned into Kirishima's grip.
"You're pretty pale, Chicken Bones."
Yuki waved them off and turned toward the textbook. "All is well!" Uncertainty clawed its way up Yuki's throat like a lion cub pouncing on a cobra and Yuki gulped. "Seriously guys. I'm great!"
Kirishima nodded slowly and turned toward the textbook. The words blurred together and Bakaugo slid a raspberry yogurt across the counter. "Eat it."
"I couldn't—"
"Eat," Bakugo insisted.
The sourness of the raspberry tingled on Yuki's tongue when she corrected Kirishima. "No. You made a simple mistake though with an easy fix!"
"Here." Bakugo set two bowls of curry in front of Yuki and Kirishima.
Her bowl was darker in color than Kirishima's, but she shrugged it off and took a bite. Kirishima thanked Bakugo and Yuki looked up in surprise. She grinned up at him and took a bite of a sweet and savory curry.
"Thank you, Bakugo."
A small smirk twitched at the corner of Bakugo's lip when a wave of boldness flushed over her.
