"We just landed in the U.S.!"

    "Good to hear! I'm packing right now." Yuki shoved her toothpaste in a bag while she talked with her father. Her flight was in five hours and she'd failed to pack until now. "I'm excited to see Haru."

    "He's excited too. I hope you don't mind, but I got you a ticket for his swim competition. It's right after you land."

    "Not a big deal," Yuki said. "I'll probably pass out, but wake me up when it's his turn!"

    "I was gonna ask you to wake me up!"

    Yuki laughed. Swim meets were incredibly boring. It was exciting when Haru was up in his competitions, but so annoying when you had to sit and wait all day long for one or two events. She remembered going to his meets with little barbie dolls. "I'm in a bit of a rush, so I'll tell you when I board, okay?"

    Yuki folded three sweaters and put them in her suitcase. She bit the inside of her cheek before she removed one. It was last year's matching sweater with Bakugo. She should just get rid of it. But didn't have the heart.

    It was weird not stressing over a gift for Bakugo. He was the kind of guy who'd say "he doesn't care, just whatever," which made it impossible to get a gift he'd appreciate. The first year, she just got him a pair of Grinch socks with a note that said, "don't steal the holiday spirit from everyone, 'kay?"

    The second year they were together, she'd drawn a picture on her tablet of them together. It was his phone's background photo of them and she printed it out and put it in a frame. It hung in their old home above her baking items in the kitchen.

    This year was different. She got small trinkets for Haru, her father, and step mother. She was coming in a plane and had decided she'd take them all out to dinner at some point when they were together.

    Yuki locked her gun in the safe of her bedroom before she ran out to catch her taxi.

    "I'm spending next semester with my grandparents," a little girl told Yuki while they waited to board. The girl was alone. She held a tiny teddy bear and had two little black pigtails.

    Yuki talked with the little girl until their boarding light blinked.
