The music was loud. Not irreverently so, but loud enough that Yuki sought out the furthest corner in the room from the band, which happened to be the closest to the hero's entrance. She had opted to go through the back entrance and stay away from the media.

They were a good band, and the lead singers' quirk definitely had to deal with singing in some fashion, but sometimes it was too much, even on a soft night.

"Yuki!"

She turned to see Kaminari with a black bag slung over his shoulder. He grinned his signature Chargebolt grin and looked her up and down. "Smokin' for a walking dead woman!"

"Thanks," Yuki said. She wore a light green dress with black flats. Her hair was up in ringlets and she had gone to a makeup artist to do her makeup. After all, there are many photographers at the Pro Hero's Banquet.

Midoriya walked by trailing after Uraraka. He clearly had his hero suit under his tux and was saying something about Iida's newest upgrade. Uraraka rolled her eyes and approached Yuki.

"You're out of the hospital?"

"Released three days ago!"

"You gave us a real scare!" Uraraka laughed. "But even our detectives fight back."

"You look great, Yuki!" Midoriya grinned.

Yuki felt small in front of Midoriya. Yeah, they had grown up together, but this is the man who brought down the League of Villains. There's no one who could even compare to his amount of power.

"Endeavor! Over here!" a reporter yelled.

Yuki smiled. Well, maybe some could touch Midoriya.

"Todoroki!" Yuki greeted. "It's been forever!"

"You're so hot Dynamight!"

"Dynamight! Look over here!"

The icy-hot man approached them and stared at Yuki. He glanced at Uraraka and Midoriya, before looking back at Yuki. "Who are you?" he asked plain and simple.

A warm hand wrapped around Yuki's waist and pulled her against him. "What a shit head," Bakugo grumbled. "Doesn't even remember my wife."

Uraraka's jaw hit the floor. Both Midoriya and Uraraka gasped and said, "what?!"

Yuki smacked Bakugo's hand. He grinned over her shoulder and Yuki rolled her eyes. "Yeah, it's true."

"When? You were released from the hospital three days ago?" Uraraka grabbed Yuki's ringless hand. "Where's the ring?

"Yesterday at the courthouse..." Yuki grinned. "Our parents were the witnesses."

"Congratulations," Todoroki evenly told Bakugo.

Yuki continued to answer a barrage of questions from Uraraka. Yes, she wore a white dress. In fact, it was the one from their beach vacation two years ago. Bakugo did propose with a ring but he'd tied it to a get-better-soon balloon thinking it was an amazing idea and then it went right out the window. Some lucky street-walker got a free ring. Yes, he bought a new one but they didn't have anymore in Yuki's size so they had to custom order. Yes, Yuki picked out the new one. No, Yuki was the one who decided to get married at the courthouse. Maybe next year they'll throw a party or something, but currently they didn't want to. Career's didn't matter anymore since Yuki's not allowed active field duty for the foreseeable future and when that road came, they'd cross it together.

"They need top heroes to line up and everyone to their seats," Midoriya interrupted. "Let's go you guys!"

"You ready?" Bakugo held his arm out. Yuki nodded and linked her arm though it.

Yuki limped, but Bakugo held her steady. He walked her to their assigned table and pulled the chair out for her. Yuki flinched when she sat and Bakugo kissed the top of her forehead like it was the last time he'd be able to kiss her.

"Red Riot!"

Kirishima stood for photos and flexed his arms. He gave his best "manly" smolder before entering the banquet hall. She watched him scan the chairs and gave Yuki a small smile before he jogged toward the back entrance. In walked their office assistant, Aiko, and Kirishima escorted her toward Yuki's table. Red Riot's chair was next to hers, and she gave Kirishima a thumbs up. He gave a curt nod before joining in the clapping surrounding them.

"Look closely, because these are your top ten heroes!"

Yuki thought about the first day she met Bakugo and laughed. Oh, she had no idea that he would be the one who would sit by her in life. After a short program, the top ten were released from their standing position and Bakugo joined Yuki at the table.

He leaned into her, "we stay for an hour and dip out the back entrance and make sushi at home?"

"I thought you'd never ask."

Yuki realized she could live in this moment forever. A soft instrumental theme in the background. Lights turned down low. Bakugo's hand on her thigh. Yeah, she could live forever with him. His was the only touch she craved. And she knew that was her true emotions. This was the man who'd taught her what it felt like to blush like a teenage girl looking at Captain Levi and he was the one who stood by her in sickness and health.

Now, Yuki wished she could return the favor. And she would. Everyday she'd work for her relationship with Bakugo. It wasn't going to slip and they both knew that. They'd learned their lesson in that regard. They'd start slow—like a drop of ice cream on the tongue. Eventually, there'd be nothing to fear.

They were a shattered vase and everyday they'd glue it back together. One day, they'll be able to hold flowers and blossom into something more.

But for now?

"You're my damn hero, Katsuki," Yuki whispered.

Bakugo grinned like a feral cat.

Killer clown breaks Gotham's Japanese hero, Athena.

Sero stared at that headline. He'd read the article approximately a million times and he didn't stop reading it until he was woken at four in the morning by an instagram notification.

athenaofficial posted three hours ago!

He hadn't clicked on a notification faster.

athenaofficial everyone needs to chill, yeah? I'm fine, thanks for worrying tho 💓

That was eight months ago. She hadn't posted since, and it wasn't like she was known to post often. Maybe twice a year. It killed Sero. He wanted to talk to her, wanted to check in on her, wanted to tell her what he should've years ago.

But he hadn't talked to her in three years.
