"You're breathtaking," Shinso said.
Yuki grinned and hooked her arm around his elbow. "Thanks. You're not too bad yourself."
Yuki wore a light lilac dress that reached the ground with a white cropped coat. Her hair was curled and she wore mascara—she refused to wear any more makeup because she didn't want to deal with washing it all off her face.
Shinso wore a white button up with a lilac tie and black slacks. He'd draped a black leather coat over his shoulder "just in case" he got cold, but was determined he didn't need it. They walked together across campus grounds.
The path had fairy lights twinkling and it ignited Yuki's eyes. She grinned and that dimple on her chin appeared. Her and Shinso's heart beat fast when they made eye contact and Yuki immediately looked away.
"They went beyond on the decor," Yuki gasped.
An ice sculpture of a massive snowflake sat in the center of the school's large gym. All of the lights shone directly on it, and the ground was a kaleidoscope of reflections and twirled around itself.
"Everyone's so happy," Yuki said. She held her stomach. "Although I'd wish all the jitters would go away."
A band played at the front of the gym and a slow song began. Shinso dragged Yuki to a back corner and held his hand out. Yuki gladly took it and they awkwardly danced with each other. There was a space between them, like they were scared that if they got even closer to each other, their friendship might dissipate. Yuki didn't know if that was a good or bad thing.
Shinso's fingers were cold when they brushed on her waist. He gave her a lopsided smile and Yuki laughed. They slowly spun around the room and Yuki had to work to ignore the resentment clawing at her feet like a cougar grasping a cliffside.
Uraraka and Midoriya wore matching pink outfits that were absolutely adorable when they appeared in front of Shinso and Yuki. Uraraka's pink cheeks were much pinker than normal and Yuki's stomach did summersaults.
"This is so awesome!" Uraraka said. "I'm happy we get to relax for a bit!"
Yuki agreed. Bakugo had told her about some of the stuff his class had been through and it worried Yuki. "I love your dress!"
"You too," Uraraka beamed.
Yuki noticed Sero and Nishiharu dancing incredibly close to each other. Nishiharu's arms were locked around Sero's neck and he whispered in her ear with a massive grin.
Giggles bubbled out of Yuki and she decided it'd be best to not focus on them. Shinso raised a brow at Yuki and she simply shook her head.
"I'm going to grab something to drink, you want anything?"
"Sure," Yuki readily agreed.
Kirishima appeared the moment Shinso walked away. He beamed down with a black dress shirt and matching slacks.
"Who'd you come with?" Yuki asked.
Kirishima shrugged. "I'm a lone bachelor tonight! You?"
"Hit—Shinso!" Her hair fell over her face when she looked down. "He'll be back any minute!"
"Yo! Kirishima!" Kaminari yelled. Kaminari wore a white button down with a yellow tie. "Dude, you got to try this!" He held up a glass of punch and both Yuki and Kirishima tilted their heads.
"I'm being summoned." Kirishima held his hand up for a fist bump before he left.
She hummed to herself while she waited for Shinso. Something out of the corner of her eye about waist height darted across the gym toward her. When she realized it was Mineta she gagged and avoided any semblance of eye contact and prayed he'd get the memo.
A warm hand latched to Yuki's hand and she jumped. He tugged her toward a backdoor and Yuki struggled against him. "Bakugo? What the heck?"
"Being in a crowd messes with your quirk, right?"
Yuki hummed. "I have a date."
"Right." Bakugo spun around and pulled Yuki close. His hand on her waist was sure and stern and comforting. "That brainwashing bastard—"
"I'd like it if you didn't call my best friend a bastard." Blood rushed to Yuki's cheeks.
Bakugo's jaw clenched and he pulled her closer. "Some best friend leaving you alone."
"I should get back."
"Stay until the end of the song."
"It just ended, Bakugo."
He grinned a scoundrel grin and leaned his forehead against Yuki's. "You're hot."
Yuki squeaked and hid against Bakugo's collar bone. He chuckled softly and held her tighter as they swayed in the soft melodies. Bakugo hated this feeling. But he was addicted to it. If he had to label it, he supposed it would be labeled liability.
