"You're his emergency contact, Detective Tanaka. We need a go ahead with the transfusion," the doctor said for the third time. Yuki nodded and stared through the glass window as the unconscious Bakugo.

"Yeah. Of course. Whatever you need," she said. Her lower leg and shoulder throbbed every time she stared at Bakugo and she shook it off.

"He's suffered some severe muscle fatigue and trauma." The doctor showed Yuki x-rays. "He needs major rest. It's probably due to his major increase of work in the past few months. If he'd been in top shape when fighting today, he'd be in much better condition. This was just the final push he needed before winding up here."

"Dammit Katsuki..." Yuki watched the doctors prick his arms with needles. They scurried around the room like worker ants, each with a specific purpose.

Many news stations tried to sneak in. She'd received permission from Chief Sato to act as the head guard, and she'd stop any suspicious looking person from entering. She knew the faces of every doctor and nurse. So did Togashi.

Bakugo woke the next evening and yelled at the doctors about not needing to be there. They tried to restrain him but he furiously pulled IV's out and sat up.

"Stop it, Katsuki." Yuki was quiet when she entered the room. Her shoulders tightened together and her breath stopped.

He wheezed a hiss when he asked, "what the hell are you doing here?"

Yuki tugged the chair in the corner of the room to sit directly in front of him. "I'm your emergency contact."

"Oh," he said. "I forgot about that."

A paper shredder walked up to Yuki, ripped her heart out, and shredded it right in front of her mockingly. But she still smiled softly at Bakugo. "You're overworked, Katsuki. You need a long break to recover."

    "To hell with that."

"Stop drowning yourself in work to occupy your mind."

    "I'm not—"

"Don't." Strict didn't even explain the tip of the iceberg in Yuki's voice. "Lay back. Everyone's just trying to help. Let them help you and take their advice."

    "I don't need to."

    "How does your back feel?"

Bakugo's lip quivered and he sighed. Yuki's eyes swelled and she stared out the window. Snow packed softly against the window and a sad chuckle escaped her lips. Bakugo leaned back against the bed and took a few breaths. "It hurts."

    "I know."

Bakugo watched the snow fall with Yuki. He thought about the way it used to decorate her hair—glistening against her beautiful teal locks. It made her eyes brighter than they already were and she'd always laugh like a child when it tingled against her cheek. He imagined that's what it would look like on their wedding day and Yuki clutched her heart.

    "Yuki—"

"Don't say it." Yuki finally looked Bakugo in his deep red eyes. "If you say it I won't be able to walk away again."

"I don't want you to walk."

    "I know."

"I lov—"

    "Please, Katsuki."

    "I still love you, Yuki."

A hot tear seared against Yuki's cheek. "I know."
