Old New York County Courthouse, 1 year ago...

"The Panel for Educational Policy under the close supervision of the New York City Schools Chancellor hereby announces the immediate expulsion of Tamara Edwards, an 11th Grade Student, from Sandy Hills High School for the offense of assaulting a School Principal."

Everyone who personally knows the Edwards Family rushes to comfort them as soon as the hearing ends. Each one of them expresses their deep sympathy to the weeping Sarah Edwards before proceeding to their kids.

After everyone finishes offering support to the family, the older Edwards assists his crying wife outside the courtroom. The youngest Edwards, however, shook his head in disappointment towards her adoptive sister before leaving to follow their parents.

"T, can we talk for a sec? In private?" Zamantha Edwards told her adoptive sister and stormed off the courtroom.

"T-Tammy?"

Tamara turns her head when someone called her. It was her friend, Brooklyn Henderson. Brooklyn immediately hugs her and cries on her shoulder.

"I-I'm sorry, T!" she apologized while crying. "I-If o-only I-"

"It's fine," Tamara comforted her friend and caressed her back. "I understand."

Brooklyn holds her friend on her shoulders. "I will do everything to get you back! I promise!"

"You don't need to but I appreciate it."

"You're making me cry again," Brooklyn wept and hugs Tamara again. "That son of a bitch! This is all his fault!"

"He'll get his due time soon, B. We're working on it," she reassured her. "Right now just promise me to stay away from trouble, alright?"

"I promise!" Brooklyn vowed to her friend. "Thank you for everything, T. I didn't know what I do to deserve a friend like you."

"Hey, that's what's friends for," Tamara told her. "Now why don't we leave this courtroom, huh? Staying here depresses me off."

"Yeah right." Brooklyn breaks a laugh and wipes her tears. "Let's go."

Tamara and Brooklyn left the courtroom with their arm around each other's shoulders. Upon exiting the courtroom, they were greeted by an upset Zamantha. Brooklyn looks into the ground in guilt after she and the other Edwards's eyes met.

"I-I should get going now, T," Brooklyn bids farewell to Tamara. "Z," she bids farewell awkwardly to an upset Zamantha and left.

"Follow me," a cross-armed Zamantha ordered her adoptive sister and went outside the courthouse.

"I know that you're upset and I'm-"

"What the fuck, T?!" Zamantha snapped at her.

Tamara lowers her head in shame and just listens to her adoptive sister scolding her.

"Why do you always have to take the fall for other people's actions?!"

"Brooklyn is not just any 'other people', Z. She's our friend."

"Do you think I don't fucking know that?!" Zamantha growled at Tamara. "This is you we are talking about!"

"You've worked hard for this, T," she reminded her. "All those papers works, all those sleepless nights, all those written requests, all those exams you have to take just to get expelled for something you didn't even do."

"How can you be this selfless?" Zamantha can't help but hug her adoptive sister and cry on her shoulder.

"I'll find a way to overturn this, Z. I promise," she reassured Zamantha and caressed her back to comfort her.
