Lucian POV:
There was a knock on the door, as I hastily tried to fasten the buttons of my shirt. "Come in," I called out, turning just in time to see two maids gracefully entering, each balancing trays laden with delicious-looking dishes.
"Put that on the table," I instructed, my attention shifting to Bella, who stood nearby, she backed up and pointed a finger at me. "Wait, I will sit in the chair, not in your lap."
"Alright, but I have to help you get there," I replied. Swiftly, I scooped her up, the maids discreetly retreating from the room.
Setting her down in the chair, I took my place on the other side of the table. As I started to savor the flavors on my plate, I noticed Bella appeared lost in thought.
"Love, eat the food," I gently urged, breaking her reverie.
"You didn't respond to me," she uttered, her voice carrying a note of concern.
"First eat, then I'll tell you," I replied, continuing to enjoy my meal.
"Every time commanding me, stupid Monster," she mumbled. I couldn't help but chuckle at her remark.
Even in her anger, Mate had a cute look on her face, my wolf said. I nodded in agreement.
"I'm done," she announced, and I turned to see her plate, only half-empty.
"Eat everything," I insisted.
"I can't. I told you earlier my stomach is small," she explained, her hand gently resting on her stomach.
I finished my meal, the clinking of cutlery fading away as I pushed my plate aside. With a simple gesture, I summoned the maid to clear the table.
"George, it's time for Bella's checkup," I called. Moments later, George's polite knock announced his presence. "My lord, I have come for a checkup," he announced through the door.
"Come in," I responded, and the door swung open to reveal George. Bella's eyes darted toward him.
"What checkup do I need now? I don't feel anything," she uttered in a panic, her eyes wide with worry. I couldn't help but wonder why such a small thing elicited such fear in her.
"Bella, I have to change your bandage and give you a portion, it will help with your injury," George explained. He gracefully dropped to his knees Carefully, he pulled Bella's leg closer and began to cut away the bandage with deliberate precision.
A gasp escaped Bella's lips, "Oh my god, the cut was this big."
"It was," George confirmed, his focus unwavering. "You've lost a lot of blood, I suggest you eat more healthy food." the bandaging came to an end. George, signaling to one of his helpers, returned with a portion.
"It's so tasteless, I don't want to drink it," Bella protested, gripping my hand for comfort. I understood her reluctance, but the bitter medicine was a necessity.
"But it's for your own good, love. You have to drink it," I reassured her, feeling the warmth of her touch. Despite the enjoyment, a gentle force was required to make her through this.
"No, no, I do not want it," she whimpered, her fear palpable. A laugh escaped George, an unexpected reaction to Bella's distress.
"I'm sorry to laugh, my Lord, but I think she doesn't like the portion. That's why she's behaving like this," George explained.
"Sip it all at once, you won't taste it," I suggested, attempting to ease her resistance. However, she shook her head.
"Do it or I will do it myself," I sternly said. She turned to face the cup and me, her eyes locking onto mine. Taking the cup from George, she inhaled deeply.
