Phayu's pov:

After that day, I never had another day of lucidity.

All my days were spent either groggy or sleeping.

I knew someone was with me at all times. Sometimes I was able to recognize them as papa, dad, Sai or Pai.

But I was rarely ever able to hold a conversation even for a few minutes.

.

.

.

.

The next time I regained some semblance of lucidity was when I was in the labour and delivery room.

I looked around at the nurses rushing around.

Pai and Sky stood on either side of the bed where I was laid.

"Hey, you with us?" Pai asked when he noticed my gaze.

I hummed softly, trying to keep the fog away.

"Uncles are on their way. They'll be here soon." He combed my hair back gently with his fingers.

My body convulsed as I felt a sharp pain bore down on my lower abdomen, making me groan.

I could feel a lot of pressure on my pelvis.

"Contractions are coming in fast. Only a minute apart." P'Beam said quickly.

I've been having contractions?

How have I not felt it until now?

Is it that bad?

.

.

.

I slumped back onto the bed, heaving and gasping with strain, my whole body soaked in sweat and my hair sticking to my forehead.

My whole lower body ached badly and I was completely wrung out.

Pai and Sky were holding each of my hands as they've been doing through the whole thing.

I looked toward p'Beam who was standing between my spread legs as I heard a loud cry.

There she was.

"Who will cut the umbilical cord?" He looked at us.

I looked at Pai and gave his hand a gentle squeeze.

He looked at me and I nodded.

He then looked at Sky who also nodded.

I let go of his hand and he went p'Beam.

A nurse gave him a pair of scissors and he cut it off.

.

.

"Here she is." A nurse brought her after cleaning her up.

I was barely holding onto my consciousness at that point.

I couldn't feel my lower body at all.

My arms felt like lead as I reached out for her.

Sky's arm came to support under mine as I held her to my chest.

"Estella... Our little star... Welcome..." I whispered with the little strength I had in me.
