I was awakened by a terrible dream that sent me panting and sweating profusely even though it was cold in my bedroom.

I swiftly switched the bedside light on and sat up to look around my bedroom. When I heard my phone beep, I knew that it's morning already because I set a six o'clock alarm.

I quickly went to open the blinds so that daylight would take away the vast dark and loneliness in the room, the one in my heart can only be taken away by Vera's presence.

I stood by the window and looked down at the garden where we had made love for hours. It felt just like yesterday. It will last forever.

"Vera…" I whispered her name.

She's in danger. I know, I understand the dream that I had. I saw her in my dream, happy at first and cheerful as ever.

Then there was this masked person that appeared from behind and bit her before she could escape.

I was supposed to run towards her and save her, but it felt as if my legs were rooted to the ground and I watched her scream for help and I couldn't save her.

I was just useless and unhelpful to her in the dream and that makes me sulk!

I forcibly went to the bathroom to brush, shower and change into something nice before I left to check up on her house and the police on duty there.

I can't believe that the men are still sleeping in their car instead of doing their job. I wanted to yell at them, but I restrained myself.

It isn't their fault. Maybe they stayed awake all night long, being watchful while people were busy celebrating the New Year with their beloved ones.

I quietly left them and went into the house. I sneaked upstairs to her bedroom and started looking at her pictures as if I was seeing them for the first time.

I was smiling at the memories that came while looking at her pictures. I picked that particular picture that she took in college and the dark girl behind caught my attention again at the same time that the picture slipped and the frame shattered.

I bent to pick the glasses and my index finger got cut. I didn't mind the blood that stained the floor as I looked around for something to pack the trash into.

I saw a red envelope carelessly placed on the foot of her standing mirror. I guessed that it must be one of the numerous letters that has caused so much chaos in the past few days that she had forgotten to trash.

I decided to pack the broken glass inside it and help her throw it away. I found out that the envelope was still sealed which meant that she hadn't opened or read it before.

I knew that the envelope is related to the previous ones, but I was curious to know what the person had to say since she hasn't read it herself.

I tore the envelope and the lily flower fell out first. Then the letter, carefully folded to fit the envelope , looked untouched and that interested me the most.

I opened the letter and read out loud.

"Vera darling, I hope you received the last letter I sent to you? You really looked beautiful on Christmas Eve. I can't wait to be so close to you again!"

I frowned at the endearment. I felt a pang of jealousy to see someone called Vera darling. I wondered who this anonymous person has been sending these letters to.

This is a very confusing letter. Monica came to my mind immediately. Yes, she can't pull such a stunt. Oh, God, could it be that she was telling the truth?
