JACKSON'S POV

I can do it, I kept reminding myself. If I was able to do it in the past and a few days after she left, I can still do it and I won't have anything to do with any woman again.

It wasn't going to be easy to talk Tim out of mentioning her, but I will also try my best. I just have to make sure he doesn't see her ever again and he will surely get over her.

I focused on going back to my old self. Start each morning by getting Tim ready for school, preparing for work as well, dropping him off on my way to work, and spending my non-work days with him on the plantation.

As expected, Tim stopped mentioning her as always after a few weeks had passed. I was able to survive those days. Monica never left, but she didn't exist to us. We ignored her and she is too busy hanging out with her friends to notice.

I woke up to a brand new day, week, and month one morning to take Tim and his pet for a walk. We were ready to leave when the front door was pushed open.

The face I saw shocked me. My eyes widened as I looked at Vera inquisitively. I thought she had gotten into some kind of trouble when I saw that she was in tears.

I moved closer to her and was appreciated with a loud slap on my cheek. She went ahead, hitting me and calling me a jerk until I gripped her hands and kept them in place.

"What is wrong, Vera?" I asked worriedly.

"I told you, but you didn't listen to me. You have ruined my life one more time, I hate you!" She tried to push me away.

"I'm sorry," I apologize even though I had no idea what she was talking about.

She stopped fighting me when she saw that I wasn't ready to let her go and rested her head on my shoulder to cry.

Tim, who was still shocked and confused by what was happening, left us alone. I was grateful for his good behavior; he doesn't react to situations like a kid, and that makes me feel proud of him.

When Vera calmed down, I led her to the couch, went into the kitchen, and made milk for her. She drank it in silence before she brought out a small envelope from her handbag.

When she gave it to me, I hesitantly opened it and read through the doctor's report.

"You are pregnant?" I asked slowly.

"Don't ask me stupid questions; I'm very sure you can read, and that write-up is understandable!" She answered angrily.

"This is beautiful!" I grinned.

"Wow! Did you just smile? What's so good about being pregnant?" She threw the empty cup at me.

I caught it in time before it landed on my face. I kept it aside and went to sit down beside her. She distanced herself from me on the couch.

"Vera, it's good news. Why are you sad about it?"

"I don't care what you feel or want. I'm aborting this baby, I can't go through that pain again for a man and gain nothing in return."

"Tell me about it. What happened to you in the past? You always stop whenever it gets to that point. Did you have a child before?" I asked, eager to hear the sad story that she and Hannah refused to tell me or anyone.

"It's none of your business. You should be talking about this mess you've put me into!" She avoided it again.

"What do you want to do?"

"I already told you, I'm terminating it before it becomes too late!"

"Is that really what you want? Okay, I won't stop you. I will take you to a trusted doctor and…"
