JACKSON'S POV

I wasn't able to get a wink of sleep all through the night. After she shut the door on my face in anger, I went into my room and locked Monica out.

When I noticed that everywhere was quiet and they must've been asleep, I went outside, got coffee, went into my home office, and set to work on my desktop.

I needed to work on reviving my company and helping Vera no matter how much she tried to push me away. It's my fault that Monica found out about the contract papers. Why didn't I change my safe box's keywords after she left?

"Well, I probably thought there would be no use since she wouldn't be coming back! Goddamn!" I cursed as I punched my keyboard.

I didn't know when I dozed off when it was almost dawn. I woke up when the rays of the early morning sun peeked into my face and made my eyes flutter open.

I closed my computer, locked the office and the aroma of pork chops made me wander into the kitchen. My mouth watered when I saw the food set on the dining table.

Tim savored grilled chicken soup, pork chops, and white rice. A cup of juice was ready for him. He didn't notice me until I sat down beside him and cleared my throat.

He mumbled a greeting and continued eating. I didn't need to be told that Vera was the one that made his favorite food for him and that's why he's happily eating it.

"Where's she?" I asked him.

He didn't get a chance to answer me because Monica entered immediately. I was irritated with her. Why can't she understand that she's no longer needed?!

"Wow! Your slave sure knows how to cook some good food! Did you pay her to serve you in the kitchen as well?" She laughed.

"Don't talk about Vera in such a manner," I shunned her.

"What, do you think I will listen to you so easily? Oh, I guess you think I would let her rest easy without a fight! If you want peace, let her leave," she retorted.

"Monica, you left; I didn't tell you to leave; have you forgotten?" I went closer to her.

There are many questions I wish to ask her at that moment, but I don't want my son to misunderstand and get distracted by some adult words.

"Must you remind me? Fine, I did, and now I realize my mistake. Can't we just forget about everything and start again? I mean, it wasn't entirely my fault, I'm still surprised that Vera could endure that much pain," she shook her head.

"You came a bit late, and there's nothing like beginning again between us. Get that into your head and stop!" I muttered.

She ignored me, sat down, and carried a plate of sauced roast to eat. I turned to leave and almost collided with Vera who was coming into the kitchen.

"Morning," she mumbled a greeting to me.

My eyes traveled down the length of her body. From her flushed face down to her bare shoulders, the beautiful strapless red gown that covered her breasts down to her knees and then her long legs.

I was dumbfounded to realize that she had found to break my highly-built walls, and letting her go would be the hardest thing I would ever do.

"Mesmerizing," I commented, taking my eyes off her legs to admire her black handbag and heels.

"Wherever you are going, can you please never come back to this house?" Monica snorted, tapping her cutleries on the dining table to get attention.

Vera seemed to be lost too, but Monica's words made her glare at her. "Can you please observe some table manners? Since you don't know how to cook, do respect well-cooked meals!"

"Bîtch!" Monica cursed.

"Exactly, I would rather be a bîtch than get ditched!" Vera returned mockingly.

Monica threw the fork at her and she dodged it, laughing sardonically. She pecked Tim and left the kitchen.

"Where the fûck did you pick that thing from? I hàte her!" Monica swore.

"That's awesome," I shrugged and followed Vera.

I caught up with her as she was about to leave the parlor. "Where are you going?"

"None of your business," she hissed.

"Vera, I'm only concerned. And you have to remember that…"

"If you were concerned, your ex-wife wouldn't have found out that I am only your sèx slàve! And don't even think you have a say in my life, it wasn't anywhere included in the documents I signed!" She cut me off.

"What do I have to do to make you trust me? What else do you want me to do for you to believe me for once?" I asked weakly.

"Don't do anything at all! You already assured Monica that I will leave soon; just start the countdown 'cause I'm going to fûck out here in three days! I guess you don't even need your doctor to come back since she's here for you," she nagged and walked away.

"Why does it have to always be like this? Now I didn't get to tell her that I am going for a business trip, I guess she doesn't even need to know since she's so desperate to leave; I will give her enough room to do that," I blurted out.

"Business trip? Today?" I bolted when I heard Monica's voice behind me.

"Get lost!" I yelled at her and went back inside the kitchen to eat.

There's no way I'm going to get pissed by her and allow her to enjoy all that good food while I leave on an empty stomach!
