VERA'S POV
"You don't have any right to lecture me!" I pointed a warning finger at her face.
"I'm glad there's someone as stubborn as you!"
I turned sharply as the door opened and the owner of the familiar voice stood in the doorway, chuckling. I opened my mouth to throw all the questions I had in store for Hannah at her, only to close it when her little soldiers ran inside.
"There's no escape, sweetheart. They've missed you and I don't want to keep telling them that someone who's never coming to visit them is coming!" Hannah laughed as her husband came in too.
"Hello, dear. It's been a while!" Oscar, her husband greeted me.
"You came too? Wow! Now I have a full house. Did you all gang up against me?" I asked, hugging him.
He pecked me and laughed. "No, they keep asking about you and… we just had no choice. I would be leaving now,"
The two soldiers, Tasha and Rowley rushed over to hug me. I carried each one of them and kissed each of their cheeks. They giggled and started telling me all the bad things that their parents had done to them so that I would take revenge for them.
"I had better go, honey," Oscar said and kissed Hannah.
That stirred up something in me, I bit my lower lip and licked my dry lips as I remembered Jackson's lips on mine, his tongue performing magic in my mouth. His teeth are nibbling on my ear…
"Vera, I'm talking to you!" Hannah's domineering voice woke me up from my daydream.
"Sorry, what did you say?" I asked sharply.
Jessica, who had been leaning on the kitchen counter, hissed and went upstairs through the sitting area.
"I would rather focus on my husband than a psycho like you!" Hannah said as she kissed Oscar again.
They deepened the kiss and I know that she's doing that on purpose. I won't let that get to me and I mustn't think about Jackson Taylor, a ruthless billionaire and a sèx freak.
"Oh, I have missed you guys!" I cleared my throat and carried the two soldiers upstairs.
Oh, I miss him! That is what my heart says. I need him. I love him. Yes, I do. I just understood the crazy feeling, but I can't have him, that's the reason why I must run!
"Miss Vera, do you know that our mom abandoned us at our grannie's old house and they always take us to cultivate at the plantation?!" Rowley said reportedly as we entered my room.
"Sweetie, don't mind your mother; she's getting old, and it's affecting her brain," I joked.
"That's true, she's getting fatter every day too!" Tasha agreed.
I smiled at her words. Hannah is expecting another child, it's normal that her body is experiencing changes. That reminded me of Tim and the child I lost to one son of a gun.
That's children; they believe whatever adults tell them, and keeping in mind what to say to them is a good way to win their hearts. I also remember when I was their age… Ninety-five percent of what adults told me was all lies.
"You look different to me," Jessica said, looking at me thoughtfully. She lay face down on my bed.
"I should when you are looking at me from a different angle. I'm very tired, and I hate it when my house is crowded and noisy." I sighed scornfully.
"That's not what I meant. You look like an expectant mother facing the first or early stages of pregnancy." Jessica replied.
"Aren't you too young to spit nonsense?" I scolded.
