It had been two weeks since Loki had unofficially been moved into your home, and so far it was just him trying to scare you with pranks. Honestly, he seemed more upset with you than the other way around.
He had tried with snakes being in the kitchen, but you were only worried about how those had gotten accidentally stuck inside your home more than worried about why, and you left the sliding door open.
Other times it was him manifesting double or triple of himself, but somehow you could figure out which one was the real him, and usually just asked if he was okay or wanted something to eat.
Today, you had decided to take a walk without informing him, considering he may have been asleep so early in the morning. It was around the usual time you woke up to get ready for work, but without a real schedule anymore, you needed to do something until your habit was broken. You had your music playing in your ears as you walked along a path made within the tall grass growing everywhere. The sun hadn't even risen yet, so the most you heard outside of regular animals were the early birds and occasional owls. At least until you were blaring your music.
Enjoying the peace of an uninterrupted walk, you looked at your watch, making sure that you stopped at the 300 feet mark. It took about thirty minutes to reach the edge, and so you'd walk down another path that wasn't overrun with brush or covered in mud, basically going around to four corners.
Once the sun began to rise, you smiled at how the light would catch the dew on the plants, and decided that it was time to head home.
As you turned back around, you nearly jumped out of your skin as Loki was there, his hands on his hips as he was watching you. You take your headphones out quickly and turn the music off. "U-uh, you're up early, Loki.." "Me? My dear, you've been up for two hours longer, wandering this cursed maze of a field in the middle of the night!" "A... Actually it's early morning..." You mumble, watching his movements. "You've been so lost in that music that you didn't notice I was following you for the past 30 minutes! If I wasn't such a nice guy I would have killed you already!" You rub your neck a bit. "Really? Oh, I'm sorry.. you could have tapped me on the shoulder, or something... I'm sorry I made you worry, though."
Scoffing, Loki turns his head away. "As if I'd be worried for a simple mortal such as yourself. Do not forget that if you get in trouble, then I get in trouble, and as much as I love causing trouble I don't want this kind!"
Loki is standing in front of you now, angered by you. "Oh... Sorry." You offer him your headphones. "If it'll help, you can listen to my music on the way back to the house." You can see his eye twitch before your headphones are being thrown in a random direction, Loki grabbing your shoulders. "Do you have a brain? You're in the middle of nowhere, you vulnerable creature of a woman! There have been the howling of wild dogs around you for over ten minutes. The only reason you haven't become their next meal is because I was out here!"
You rub your arm a bit sheepishly, watching him. "S-Sorry.. I just.. I don't get to have this kind of free time. Besides, if it was my time to die then I would be dead. So, thank you for saving me, Loki." You smile at him softly, patting his arm gently before looking towards the direction of your house. "I'll get started on breakfast if you want, and I'll give you some space too."
Staring at you in shock and disbelief, Loki drops his arms. "You are such an odd mortal... Do you not fear me? I could still kill you, right here and now, yet you're offering to serve me food and privacy." You blink, smiling at him and shrugging softly. "But you just saved me from wild dogs, and you were worried about me. It sounds like you're contradicting yourself, so I'm going to make you breakfast as an appreciation. And everyone likes their space, so I'll leave you alone."
Unable to counter your words, Loki sullenly walks with you back to the house, staring at you a few times.
You return home and get changed into simple sweat pants and a T-shirt before coming into the kitchen. As you wash your hands and put on an apron, you think of what Loki would enjoy for a morning meal. "Coffee with sweet cream, and some kind of sweetened cinnamon confectionery." Loki speaks up, and you look over to where he is sitting. His eyes are still on you as he's seated in the living room, as he's changed into a black sweater and pajama pants. Nodding, you smile at him. "Okay, thanks for letting me know." You get the coffee brewing first, before you think of what would fit into his food type. Cinnamon cream cheese waffles are the first thing to pop into your head, so that's what you go with as you get everything out to cook.
You can still feel him watching you as you cook, and this makes you look over to him again. But this time he quickly averts his gaze towards the tv, and you go back to cooking again. It doesn't take long for you to bring him a plate of waffles with scrambled eggs on the side, and a fresh cup of coffee. "I hope you like it." You smile at him and head back into the kitchen as you let him eat, going to clean up. This time you don't realize that he's still watching you, his eyes following your movement as he comfortably eats what you've given him.
Once you're done cleaning you make your own cup of coffee, and go to enjoy it outside. "Where are you going?" Hearing Loki's question, you look over to him and see that he's cleaned his plate entirely. "O-Oh, I was going to give you your space." "Don't you think it's rude to not join your guest for a meal?" Raising your eyebrow, you walk over into the living room, and go to sit on the opposite end of the couch with him. "Um... Would you like to watch a movie, or anything?" You ask, picking up the remote. "Does my company really not bother you?" Loki asks, and you can't deny his cute sitting position as he's crosslegged on the couch. "Well.. y-you've been in my home with me for two weeks now. I'd be uncomfortable if it had just been two days, but I'm getting used to having you here." You smile, sipping on your coffee. "Are you sure about that?"
You look at him in surprise as he's suddenly moved closer to you, and is making himself comfortable as he rests his head on your lap. "U-Um.. I... I can m-move off of the couch if you want to lay down." "No, just stay here." It sounds as if he's pouting, but he doesn't budge from his position. "W-what if I accidentally spilled coffee on you, though?" "Then I'll punish you." You feel a tingle go down your spine before you nod, setting your coffee to the side and grabbing the remote instead. You felt a bit weird letting this man use your lap as a pillow, but if he felt comfortable then you wouldn't fight him on it.An hour later you were watching a random show alone, seeing as how Loki had fallen asleep on your lap. You couldn't help but feel as if he was a stray cat, craving attention but not wanting anyone to touch him. You almost wanted to run your fingers through his hair too, but you didn't want to wake him. Plus, you didn't mind that he had a natural chill to his temperature, you would have been more uncomfortable with extra body heat on you. Smiling to yourself, you rested your head against your hand on the armrest, watching the show that played until you ended up falling asleep as well.
You're awoken soon enough by the shifting of Loki moving off of your lap, and blinking your eyes open in a sleepy gaze. Your wrist is sore as you lift your head, and you rub it gently. You don't see how quick Loki is until you're hearing him go upstairs and close one of the doors. Covering a yawn, you check the time to see that it's now past the afternoon, and you get up. Assuming Loki just wanted actual privacy now, you go to check your phone, and are immediately woken up fully with the messages from work. It was a big group chat of people from your office floor asking what happened, why you had been let go, and why you hadn't bothered finishing up the work that they expected you to have been finished with. "Oh... Did Fury get me fired?" You mumble, and take yourself out of the group chat that you wanted no part of.
You check on everything that was worrying you though, like your finances and insurance. Thankfully, you still had plenty left in your bank account to last two months if you were careful enough, and the insurance was still ongoing. "Good-" You cringe as you get a phone call from Patty, and you let it ring. You hated talking to her. But as she starts blowing up your phone relentlessly, you sigh slowly and answer the call. "Hello...?" "Y/N! I thought you were ignoring me!" "Oh, no.. sorry, I just got out of the shower.." You lied weakly. "Well, I was calling to see what's going on with you. We didn't know that you got fired! Did you get disgruntled or something?" "Um.. no.. I just-" "Did you try to just up and quit? You know you've gotta do that whole two weeks notice first." You rub your temple a bit. "No, Patty. I was just... Let go." It's silent on the other end for a moment. "Hello-" You stare at your phone quietly as Patty hangs up in your face. "Of course.. no gas for the tank, no bothering with the drive." You mutter, setting your phone down and rubbing your cheek some. You doubted she'd listen even if you had something juicy to tell her.
Shaking your head, you try to figure out what you could do now that you haven't had time for before. Without a car, you'd have to definitely do things around the house.
