Very short one shot of fluffy protection)

It was storming.

Horribly.

You were excited, but terrified beyond belief. You loved gloomy weather, especially when it was cool in temperatures and not overly humid.

It was only around 2 in the afternoon, but it was so dark outside that it looked like it was 8 at night instead.

And the rain was overly torrential with heavy thuds. The thunder itself was so rough after every flash of lightning, that your house shook.

"Uhm.. Loki... Your brother can change the weather around, can't he? This isn't him like... Fighting... Right?"

"As big of an oaf as he is, even he can't produce something of this size. Or with this much vigor. Why, are you scared?"

"Y-You can't ask that when you're staring at this storm more than I am..!"

Both of you jump as the loudest sound of thunder cracks through the air, and you curse a bit loudly before you're rushing to go upstairs.

Loki finds this somewhat amusing. "You're like a skittish little rabbit, darling." "S-Shut it! Anything like this means--"

Everything shuts off in an instant, and your breathing quickens a bit. "Yup, that."

As soon as you're upstairs you go into your bedroom, and run straight into Loki's arms as he's teleported ahead of you.

"Y/N, calm down." You look up into the green emeralds staring down at you, and you scowl a bit at the smile playing on the mischievous God's lips. "Loki, this isn't funny.."

"Whoever said it was, my little bunny?" You puff your cheeks out before you go to get your flashlight out of your drawer. "I'm so serious, Loki. Storms like this don't just happen. They always have something attached. If it's not flooding, it's really dangerous high winds. And if not that, then tornadoes!" "And what comes after that?" "I! I don't know! But it'll be worse!"

Loki notices how high your anxiety has become, before he's grabbing your shoulders again. "I'm sorry... What will help make you feel better?" You stare at him. "Preparation."

And with that, Loki helps you.

A few candles, water bottles, and a designated safe space later, you are doing your best not to stand by the window.

The lightning flashes through the curtains and any uncovered window, being a mix of indigo and purple. That was bad.

Sitting elegantly on the couch, Loki keeps his eyes trained on you. "Would you like me to read to you?"

You shake your head at first before stopping, and go to grab something for him to read to you.

Placing the book in his hand, you sit next to him. "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and The Wardrobe..?" Loki asks softly as he reads the title aloud.

Nodding, you nestle into his side.

Chuckling softly, Loki wraps an arm around you after opening the book.

You keep glancing at the storm outside as it stays heavy, but soon enough Loki's calm voice entraps you.

You don't pay much attention to the storm after that, until a window is being shattered upstairs.

Loki stops reading and checks upstairs for you, before you find yourself being scooped up into his arms. "L-Loki?" "I apologize, darling. But it may be better to stay in the designated safe spot."

You stammer, finding yourself in the basement with Loki. It's lit much better than before with battery powered lights being on, and a corner of comfort being made up already with blankets and pillows.

Just as you're about to ask, you hear the distant wail of tornado sirens.

Swallowing thickly, you find yourself still in Loki's arms as he sits down comfortably with you in the corner, a blanket wrapping around your shoulders instantly. "I'll make sure that you and I are safe from the danger, my dear. Now, let's continue to read."

Loki picks up where he left off, and after some more books that he's acquired, you listen to just his words until you've fallen asleep against him.

Loki stays up as he takes in your features while you sleep, and also to keep tabs on the storm.

He'd protect you from anything, as long as he could help it.

You wake up back on the couch some hours later, as the storm has decreased to a dull roar and light rain.

The next day, the lights are back on, but the damage is terrible. Except for around the actual arena of your house. You did have a broken window, but that was nothing compared to the ripped up chinks of grass and broken or toppled over trees.

The nearest town had been hit and rocked with the devastating power the storm had (there weren't any deaths, but a lot of homes and vehicles were destroyed beyond repair).
