What in the actual Hell?

How did he even know you were here? Was he searching for you?

Before you could get up and interrogate him, your racing thoughts are interrupted by people coming over and congratulating you on your birthday.

Your mind is racing but you keep up a facade for the sake of The Grandmaster not putting more pressure on you to have 'fun'.

But fun is really the last thing on your mind.

It feels like it takes forever before you're actually able to get away, but you don't leave empty-handed.

It's not the gifts that you sneak out from the party with.

It's Loki.

-- Loki's POV

It's you. How had he stumbled upon you, after so many years? An entire decade had gone by, and he had thought you were lost forever. After Odin had sent you out into a battle off planet that you weren't nearly prepared for, Loki knew that it had been for nothing more than to split your friendship apart. Even though you had been his servant since young childhood, you were the only one who had truly cared for him. It had hurt him for so long, how his heart ached so much, and how much he hated Odin even worse since then.

Yet here you were, back in front of him again with those beautiful E/C eyes that haunted his dreams. And the soft plump lips that used to let out gentle laughs from his jokes, that smiled so genuinely only at him, and angrily talked back to Odin in order to protect him from a punishment.

But why didn't you remember him? Were you purposely trying to avoid him, now that he was back here with you again?

No.

No, you seemed genuinely confused as to who he was. And it hurt. There had been a small spark of recognition when he spoke your name and held your hand for the first time in a long time, but your mind.. It's as if it physically hurt you to remember, and raised a suspicion instead when you looked surprised. Of course he had covered it up with a quick and easy lie, he had known your name and your touch before any of these others ever did. He was glad that The Grandmaster had forced you to make small talk with him, and even more so when you had taken him to a more secluded area of the room.

He searches your mind quickly, and realizes that your memories are all over, muddled in places when they shouldn't have been. What happened to you?

"You're an Asgardian.." You seemed to be in shock when he told you this, a precaution to his reveal of you making your fingers dance at your hip, but suddenly freeze when you don't have a weapon to pull on him. "Y/N... Do you truly not recognize me?" He had to ask you this, to truly know if you had forgotten him after all these years. And as your eyes studied his face for any type of faltering expression, he held your gaze for all that he had.

Then, your recognition of him was so very open. But it wasn't like the warm way he had been accustomed to. It was dangerous, and cold. He had never seen that from you before. Especially directed at him.

Before you could continue any further, you had been pulled away by the strangers who didn't know you, but celebrated your birthday with you. You had quickly gone back to acting as if you were enjoying this festivity, but he could hear your mind. All of it. The confusion, the bitterness, the sadness, and then the worst headache he had ever felt coming from you.

You hadn't been well, that much he knew now.

You were able to avoid having to dance with random strangers, men, for the next two hours as you instead had them focusing on the gifts you opened. Many of which Loki could tell that you didn't enjoy receiving, but thanked them for anyway with smiles.
