Home.

After being away for too long, I realized the word sounded so far away; it has become a foreign thing in the drawl of my tongue. Where is home?

My concept of this has always been different from others especially after my parent's split.

Home.

Some call it a place where you were born and grew up in; others say it's more of a feeling rather than the actual meaning of it. Home is where the heart is, I heard a few times.

Maybe all of them are true. Maybe I will never know. Maybe I already know it. I found myself grieving for that word, the knot in my stomach was enough indention for it.

Home lost its meaning to me for a very long time.

This place feels more like a prison, instead of a home.

"This is your fifth attempt in escaping, Miss Sobreviñas. Dont you ever get tired?"

I whipped around extremely pissed off, looking at his smug face.

I was just caught again trying to escape. It would've worked not until Raul alerted everyone that I was missing. The search was long and ardent, they'd look for me high and low almost the entire day. Only to find me inside the bandwagon full of potatoes.

I humorlessly laughed "Why wont you try zipping that mouth because I did not ask for your opinion?"

"I'm just saying" He had the nerve to shrug. If it wasn't for him, I would've been as far as possible from this place.

I remained impassive and turned my back to him

"It's going to be your flight in two days. It's better if you just start packing your stuff", I heard him say

I can't help but roll my eyes "I'm not hearing this, of all people, from you"

In a house where expensive white marbles and fancy gray rugs were all over, I took the stairs going to the main living area where I found someone who was standing right in front of our family portrait.

Disbelief in what I was seeing, I said "Dad?!"

He was still in his usual 3-piece suit, flattened and neat just as always. His hair was sleek back while his hands were on his pocket.

"I didn't know that's how you should greet your own father", He joked as I made way to him.

I smiled and burrowed myself further in the cages of his strong arms, "I can't say I'm not glad to see you, Dad."

"This is an unusual greeting", He said chuckling but move an effort to open his arms for me in an embrace.
"Growing up, you always have that permanent scowl on your face whenever you see me"
