"You're kidding me."
Maven's brows furrowed, a mixture of amusement and confusion in his eyes. "Kidding about what?"
"You live here? In Serendra?" Disbelief colored my voice as I scanned the luxurious underground parking lot, my astonishment echoing softly against the concrete walls. All this time, he'd been closer than I'd realized—right under my very nose.
"Yeah," he replied nonchalantly, leaning back in his seat as though my surprise was unwarranted.
"You're serious?" I pressed, turning fully toward him.
"Dead serious." He raised a brow, a slow, lazy smirk spreading across his lips. "Why the shock? Wait—doesn't your brother Elliot own a place here too?"
"That's a long story," I replied, feeling a pang of anxiety. "And how exactly do you know about my brother's place?"
"Airsoft match," he murmured absently, eyes flickering toward the approaching headlights of my Jaguar, his driver easing it smoothly into a nearby spot.
We exited the car, and Maven accepted my car keys from the older gentleman, nodding appreciatively. "Salamat, Mang Tasyo."
As he turned to hand me my keys, I shot him a skeptical glance, folding my arms. "I'll only believe you if you take me up to your unit."
He paused, caught off-guard by my directness. "What?"
"Well, unless you've got something—or someone—to hide? A secret wife? Maybe a pregnant girlfriend?" The words spilled out lightly, but my stomach twisted uncomfortably at the thought.
He stared, genuine surprise flickering through his eyes before he shook his head, a chuckle escaping him. "Married? You just reminded me earlier that this was strictly a one-night stand scenario, remember?"
Rolling my eyes, I headed toward the elevator, Maven matching my stride effortlessly. "Exactly my point."
Inside the lift, he leaned closer, voice teasing, "No funny business, though."
I scoffed, shooting him a pointed look. "Excuse me? Need I remind you—you had your tongue down my throat less than an hour ago."
His smirk deepened. "And need I remind you how much you enjoyed it? I distinctly remember you moaning—"
"Shh!" I hissed, suddenly aware of an elderly woman standing stiffly in the elevator corner, eyes narrowed in sharp disapproval.
"Mga kabataan talaga," she grumbled, clutching her groceries tighter. Her mutter broke our tension, and we barely managed to stifle our laughter until she exited on her floor.
