Midoriya POV

The next morning, I wake up to the sun shining through my blinds. I stretch accidentally kicking Mercy in the butt. She raises her head and groans like only an adorable dog can do. Mercy seems to know what's going on today as she happily pulls on my pyjamas and tugs me out of bed.

"I know, I know Mercy," I say out loud so she can hear me.

"Today is a big day because today Benelli and I are going over to Todoroki's house to hang out and study. Don't be a jealous dog okay. I'll bring you the next time."

Mercy barks back spiritedly wagging her tail.

I grab my clothes off my desk chair and put them on. I look in the mirror making sure my outfit looks alright. I decide to change into my Endeavor sweater, its worn at the sleeves and a little faded from the wear and tear. I walk into the kitchen where my dad is already making breakfast.

"Hey dad, need any help," I ask.

"Good morning. Actually, I do need help. Could you go feed the beast. She's been giving me the puppy dog eyes for the last five minutes," he says pointing at Mercy sitting patiently in the corner.

"Okay," I say calling Mercy as I leave the kitchen.

I put a cup of food in Mercy's bowl, I whisper to her, "napping on my bed last night will be our secret." I return to the kitchen where my dad already has the plates on the table.

"So, are you excited to go to Todoroki's house today?" My dad asks.

"Yeah, he had a rough day yesterday so I hope this will make him smile," I say.

"I'm sure it will," he smiles.

After finishing breakfast my dad and I head into the kennels. I meet up with Paul in the office to go over what he wants us to do with Benelli today.
"Hey Paul, what do you have planned for today?" I ask.

"Well since you two are probably going to do some homework; practice Benelli's down-stay while you work, and if you have time do something fun with her like hide and seek," Paul smiles.

"Okay thanks," I say leaving to find Benelli.

When I find the chocolate lab in question, I put on her leach and bring her to the gear room. I am about to grab her red cape to go with her harness but then I had an idea. I took out my phone and took a picture of all the capes that fit Benelli and sent them to Todoroki asking which one he wants Benelli to wear. I got a reply almost immediately.

Todoroki: I like the blue one.

Me: Blue it is then. See you soon!

I put the rest of the capes back and attach the blue one to the harness. I quickly refill my treat pouch and stuff the last of my stuff into my backpack before heading out to the van where my dad is waiting.

"Are you ready," he asks.

"Yes, let's go," I smile.

Todoroki POV

I wake up and slowly remember what happened last night as I place an unsteadily hand on the bandages around my abdomen. I let my eyes close before remembering what today is; the day Midoriya is coming over. I sigh as I get my tired body out of bed. I grab a fresh set of clothes before walking into the bathroom. After turning on the shower, I unwrap the bandages from last night and take off my clothes, or at least what is left of them. I step into the shower letting the hot water sooth my aching muscles. I wash all the sweat and blood off before stepping out of the shower. I slowly dry off being careful not to hurt myself by pressing too hard. It is hopeless, as I come close to the bruises, sharp pain shoots through my body. Normally, this would be a trigger and set off a chain of events that would end in disaster but this morning I am surprisingly calm. Nonetheless, I am a little dizzy from the steam from the shower. Facing the mirror, I rub it to clear the fog off and see my reflection. A white figure sitting on my left side catches my eye, just outside my peripheral vision. I look directly at it, but nothing is there. I swear I thought I seen a dog. Must just be my excitement of seeing Benelli getting the best of me. Frankly, it may be my eye, so I grab my eye drops. It is the new prescription from Dr. Nurko. It's still in the bag from the pharmacy. I open the bag and check the bottle. The dosage has been increased by 2mg just like Dr. Nurko specified. I am suddenly swept into my thoughts of losing my sight in my left eye. It's finally happening, after all these years of holding my breath not knowing when it was going to happen, it is finally here. I refocus and redo my bandages. I put on one of my favourite shirts and a pair of dark jeans then head downstairs. I walk into the kitchen and go straight for the fridge grabbing one of my milks out of the drawer at the bottom of the fridge.
