Chapter 32: Shattered

Ten makes his way into the office. He bows in front of Mr Seo.

"I think you understand that I hate wasting time. So how dare you come so late?" Mr Seo complains.

"I apologize." Ten replies.

"Whatever. I don't care for your meaningless apologies." Mr Seo mutters, turning away. "Now. You know why I called you here?" He asks.

"No, sir." Ten's eyes wander to the shelf above Mr Seo. He spots an oddly familiar looking snowball.

Ten fell into the snow face first. He laid there for a few seconds, unable to move his little limbs due to the thick snow. His mother softly laughed at the sight. She picked up her son, carrying him inside the house.

Ten threw a fit, having to go inside early when he wanted to play in the snow some more. Lucky for him, his father comes out, asking what's wrong.

"He wants to stay out here." She explained to him.
He laughed, wholeheartedly. "Ok then. We have time before it starts getting dark. Go on, kiddo." He told him and Ten basically jumped out of his mother's arm as he ran back out to play in the snow.

His mom watched, eyes soft — full of love. Her husband snuck his arm around her waist, holding her gently. "Don't you think we let him get his way too often?" She questioned.

"Nope. He's perfect. Our perfect son. What would we do without him?" He cooed.

Ten suddenly threw a snowball at his mother, sticking his tongue out tongue to tease his mom.

"You! I'll get you!" His mother hurried to grab a snowball, Ten running away, giggling as she chased after him.

His father sighed before joining in, grabbing his own snowball and chasing after the two.

After hours of snowball fights, the family finally went back inside their home, had a cozy dinner as Ten talked about snowmen for one reason or the other.

When bedtime came around, his parents sat by his bed, reading him a bedtime story. "The end. . ." His mother closed the book, putting it back on the shelf.

"Mommy?"

"Yes, sweetie."

"Merry Christmas." He whispered with a little giggle. She smiled, going back to kiss her son on the cheek. His father pulled out a present, earning a look from her. "He's supposed to be sleeping. Now you're going to wake him up for a Christmas present." She grumbled.

"Whatever. . ."

Ten sat up, excited as his father handed him the Christmas present. "Here you go." He took the present, tearing through it.

Ten opened the box as he pulled out a snow globe with an angel inside it. Wow!" He exclaimed in awe, shaking the beautiful snow globe. He watched the snow particles float around.

"Pretty. . ."

"You like it, right?" His father asked. Ten smiled, brightly, nodding. He put it down on his nightstand. "Hold on to it, ok?" His mom kissed his forehead before leaving with her husband.

"Are you listening, Ten?" Mr Seo asks, giving him a deathly stare.

"Yes, I am. . ."
