★ Chapter fourty

Chapter 40: Murder mystery

Karina takes her iPad but she hesitates to call Johnny. "Do you think the note and the crash are related?" Jisoo asks.

Haechan and Seulgi enter the meeting room. "What's going on here?" Seulgi immediately asks as she notices the distress on Karina's face.

"Lucas was on his way back to Korea but. . .the jet suddenly exploded or crashed. We don't exactly know yet. Now, there's a letter taunting us."

Haechan's eyes grow wide. "Lucas. . .is dead?" Everything else seems to fly over his head, only processing the first sentence. He stumbles back, legs trembling and Seulgi has to help him sit down.

Karina presses her lips into a thin line. "We need to figure out who caused the accident." She says.

"I don't understand why they would want to kill Lucas specifically." Seulgi tries to think of every possible reason why but nothing makes sense.

"Just to taunt us." Jisoo says. A chill runs down everyone's spine. Why would whoever did this want to taunt them?

"We need to figure out who exactly did this. If they know where Seo's residence is then it's either an supposed associate or one of us. . ." Karina's voice trails off. Everyone looks at each other as suspicions grow.

Taeyong sits at the dining room with the iPad held up as he video calls Chanyeol. He cooes upon seeing Nahyun enter the frame, waving. "Hi uncle Taeyongie!" She beams.

He waves back with a bright smile. "Hi, Nahyun! How are you?" Johnny lifts his head from the bed, checking on Taeyong. One thing about Taeyong is that his voice will change for a child. Johnny finds it ridiculous but quite endearing.

Chanyeol gets Nahyun off the couch and sends her to Baekhyun. Taeyong goes silent, his smile slowly dropping. "C'mon, Nahyunnie. Let's get you a snack." Baekhyun says to her as he took her away. Even his voice is irking.

Chanyeol clears his throat. Taeyong smiles as if nothing just happened. "Taeyong-ah, is it me or are you glowing?" He questions. Taeyong lightly chuckles as he touches his cheeks.

"Me? Glowing?"

"I can't figure out if it's the sun or you're seriously glowing."

"You're flattering me." Taeyong says.

"When are you coming back?" Chanyeol asks. Taeyong shrugs. "Me and Johnny haven't decided actually and I still want to go to Thailand." He tells him.

"Let me know when you're going to Thailand I might just come too. I've been wanting to take Nahyun on a trip."

Taeyong laughs. "I'm not sure if Johnny will approve of that but sure." He glances back at Johnny. Chanyeol hums. "So. . .how- how is he?" He asks. His voice lowers, tone more serious than playful now. Taeyong gives him a reassuring smile.

"He's not ready to talk about anything yet but just give him some time."

Chanyeol presses his lips in a thin line as he nods, understandingly. "Alright." He says. Taeyong can hear the disappointment in his voice. Chanyeol has been wanting to talk about the recent events that occurred, mainly about the fact that he and Johnny are half brothers.

While Chanyeol wants to talk about it, Johnny avoids it like the plague. He and Taeyong know why. He's been putting the blame of his mother's death on Chanyeol's father and has tried to kill him and his father on multiple occasions.
