Chapter 45
It's raining, pouring hard as thunder is occasionally heard. It's cold and gloomy throughout the whole mansion. Even though they try to hide it, play it off cool, reminding themselves they're one of Korea's most powerful mafia. . . they're terrified. They've already lost 5 members so far.
Taeyong plays the piano, a somber melody filled with dread. The situation becomes more and more dire and he's stressed. Not only does he feel physically sick, but now the stress only makes him feel worse.
Johnny sits in the meeting room with everyone else. He's picking at his cuticles. Karina takes it upon herself to explain the situation to them.
"Ji Nakyung? I met her once." Jisoo mentions.
"Really?"
"She was friend's with my mom."
"That explains a lot." Jaemin snickers, earning his foot stomped on by Jisoo.
While all this was happening, Sicheng remained silent as usual. This woman presented in front of them was definitely the woman he saw at the funeral yesterday. Though, she wasn't there when the gunshots went off.
"We have to be wary of what we do. If we have to go out then we need to stick to crowded places only. Until we find this woman, it's not safe." Karina tells them. Just as she's about to dismiss them, a guard comes in with a purple letter and both her and Johnny feel their stomach turn.
Karina opens the letter with her heart pumping out of her chest.
"I told you I'd finish her off
The other one was for Haewon"
Karina shows the letter to Johnny. "Crazy bitch." He murmurs under his breath as he snatches the letter.
Sicheng knits his brows. The bullets came from a completely opposite direction of where he spotted Ji Nakyung. She wouldn't have been able to kill Aisha and Yiren herself. Someone else killed them.
He stares at the bodyguards surrounding them. "She shot a bullet through the window but there's no way she could have come anywhere close without getting noticed. Security footage is also gone. Everyone looks equally shaken up." Sicheng thinks to himself, looking around the room and analyzing everything and everyone.
Karina dismisses them, everyone going off to do their own thing.
Sicheng follows his sister up to her room. "What do you want?" Mei asks, her tone cold and distant per usual. He gulps.
"Do you have access to the database?"
Mei shakes her head. Sicheng only sighs before leaving her room. He goes downstairs and sneaks into Karina's room. Luckily, she's not there.
He searches through her drawer and finds a brand new hard drive. He plugs it into the computer before opening up the database and downloading it onto the hard drive.
No one is allowed to have access except Johnny and Karina so he doesn't bother asking them cause he already knows the answer.
Once that's done, he hacks into the security cameras and deletes the footage of him coming in here before freezing the cameras.
He gets up and leaves only to find Doyoung standing there.
Sicheng gulps as he hides the hard drive.
"What are you doing?" Doyoung asks.
"I was looking for Karina. . ." He lies but he already sees the way Doyoung looks at him and he already knows he doesn't believe it.
