Aether's POV
As i ran through the crowd, a million things ran through my mind. People laughing, shouting, jeering.
I heard Lumine yelling in the background, and Dainslief packing his things. They both shouted "Bye Aether, Love you!"
I could feel Xiao's energy fading away from me, slowly, as a huge misunderstanding created a fracture that could have been beyond repair.
I began to run when i got out of the grown, beginning to cry. I didn't understand it, why did this have to happen two months before we were supposed to get married? We met in March, we've been together since April, its been such a long time, so I'm hoping that this can just get past us as a simple drunk misunderstanding.
I arrive at the corner Xiao was at. He turns towards me, sitting, with tears in his eyes. His cheeks are red, and i can only see it from the dim lit street. He doesn't notice that I'm there, because there's no lights behinds me. I hear him, sniffling. I sit down, about 50 feet behind him, just listening to him cry, waiting for him to say something so i can jump in and comfort him and tell him that i still loved him.
"Aether...why??"
I suddenly blurted "I still love you"
He jumped, and looked closer as his eyes adjusted to the dark. He looked at me, and stood up, trying to get away.
"Xiao, wait! Please!"
"You already love him! Don't bother, i know I'm too harsh even for you."
"Xiao its not that it's... He forced himself onto me!!"
Xiao stopped and looked at me, beginning to walk towards me. He sped up, stopping in front of me. He grabbed my shirt, and said "Aether, i saw you. You did it passionately."
"I promise i didn't! I was drunk!"
"Everyone knows now...everyone knows that I'm gay. They looked at me and...laughed"
"Xiao it's fine!"
"It's NOT FINE!"
"Xiao listen to me. Listen." I took a deep breath, and grabbed his shoulder. He resisted at first, but became flustered and i made him sit down.
"I love you. Like really really love you. Like cheesy shit, my vows are true, past the crushy love love you."
"I- I" Xiao started, "I love you too."
He cried some more, and just laid on my shoulder. It was cold, so i suggested we just went home for the night.
He realized he forgot some of his things in the house, so we started to walk back inside of the house. Hoping, hoping dearly that Albedo wasn't in there. God, the only time he was useful was when he used the transformation potion in May during the Sumeru City Battle.
I walked in there with him, and some people looked at us, some girls in there were crying, and as we walked, i began hearing the girls whispers:
"The hottest men always have to be gay"
"I cant believe it...I was gonna ask him out to the Winter formal"
"Why does he have to be gay...why Xiao of all people"
Xiao heard them too and ignored them. He knew that these people fawned over him, but he really didn't care.
Venti suddenly appeared, and, surprisingly sober, said "I got rid of Albedo for you"
"H- How??"
"Oh it was crazy!" A man on one of the couches said, "He used this bow thingy and literally pushed him out with Anemo"
"Oh Venti, thank you. Thank you so- so much" I said
"Well Congrats on your engagement!!" A person said
"Yeah, don't listen to the homophobic people out here", another said
Xiao gave a smile and said "Thank you."
We left the house and walked down the mountain road to our house, ending up on our front step, when Xiao began to tear up and cry again.
"Xiao lets get you inside" I said, also about to cry
We headed inside of the house and sat on our couch. I put on a movie and reclined. Xiao was by me and he began to lay down as well, in our twin recliner. He rested his head on my shoulder, and I obliged.
Venti said "Hey, sorry to interrupt, but do you guys think i could spend a couple days here? I'm waiting on my new apartment to open up Downtown"
"Oh my god, Venti, you're moving here???"
"Yeah, hehe, i start at the University in January."
"Oh wow. Our break is from December 14-January 16"
Venti nodded, as i said "Yes, you can stay here. Guest room is to the left."
Venti heads into the guest room, and I go back to cuddling with Xiao, who is already asleep. "Oh Xiao, im so sorry. I'm so so sorry."
We went to sleep on the couch, watching a random movie that the TV played for us.
