"Okay, lunch, bandages, snacks. Anything else?"

"I don't think so." I smiled as he opened the door, stepping out into the hallway.

"Don't get changed. You look so good in my boxers." I looked down, pulling them up. They were a little big on me. Doesn't surprise me though.

"I won't. They're comfy."

"Good. I won't be long. Lock the door." I nodded, closing it behind me and locking it before stepping back into the room. 3 loud knocks caused me to roll my eyes, checking the peephole to see him still stood there. I undid the lock and opened the door

"I forgot something." I giggled as he wrapped his arms around my waist "Don't ever let me leave without a kiss."

"Okay." My words were barely able to make it out of my mouth as he pushed his against mine. Every single time his lips were on mine, it left me in the same fucked up haze as the first one. It would take me a few seconds to clear my head up and come back into reality.

"Okay. I'm going now." He pulled back, taking a step back.

"Okay." My eyes were still closed and he chuckled, putting another small kiss on my lips.

"Close the door Mads."

"Mhm." I nodded, opening my eyes and stepping back, closing the door, clicking the lock and standing back against the door with my eyes closing again. I loved this feeling. Like I was floating on cloud nine.

I'd sat on the bathroom counter crying as he stitched me up last night. He felt so bad as he did, wiping my tears as often as I could and I could see he was fighting his own. The second he was done he wrapped me in his arms and kept saying he was sorry over and over again. That he had to do it but it was over now. Then after a few minutes he pulled away, wrapping a bandage around it tightly to minimise the bruising and help it heal quickly. A hard kiss on my forehead and he scooped me up carrying me to bed and holding me tight all night.

Then this morning he ran me a bath, helped me in, sat with me, washed me, scrubbing all the blood off my skin so I didn't have to. I'd made the right decision with him. Not a single doubt remained in my mind about it now. I'd put my gun in the safe after our first date and it had only come out last night. I'd put it back this morning. I knew I didn't need it around him.  Another 3 knocks at the door made me open my eyes, unlocking the door.

"What have you forgotten now?" I giggled pulling the door open and slamming it shut immediately.

"Maddy."

"I'm not decent." Shit.

Shit. Shit. Shit. My phone is dead. I can't let anyone know. Fuck. Okay Maddy you can't deny your here now. I walked around the room, hiding any and all evidence of Lu, pulling on my trackies and a cardigan, zipping it up most of the way.

"Maddelena, open the door right now."

"Just fucking wait Arlo." I shouted back. Shit. Fuck. Oh my god. I opened the safe grabbing a knife and the gun, keeping them on me. The knife in my sock, gun in the cardigan pocket. Okay. One last look around the room. I think were good. Deep breath. Pull the door open. Do not let him in.

"You're a fucking nightmare to track down."

"That's kind of the point." I stared at him. "I told you not to follow me."

"Yeah when you were supposed to be in fucking Portland." He pushed the door open and I didn't have the strength in that arm to stop him. I did close the door behind him though, locking it so Lu couldn't get back in. I'd be able to keep him away his way. I don't know how but it would be better than him letting himself in with the spare key I got him. "Where is he?"

"Where's who?"

"The fucking Bonetti."

"He's dead." I crossed my arms, breathing through the pain.

"No he's not and you fucking know it Maddy. James told me you two left the club together on Thursday night."

"He was the Bonetti? I thought he looked familiar."  He stopped and stared at me. "What?"

"Why are you down here and not in Portland?"

"Came to see my uncle."

"Why? You don't like him."

"That's why. To sort it out."

"Did you?"

"Yeah."

"Then why aren't you coming home yet?"

"Because I'm on holiday?"

"So why couldn't I come with you?"

"Oh my god Arlo." I pushed past him, opening the patio doors, stepping out and lighting a cigarette. "You need to fucking chill out."

"No I won't fucking chill out. You've been gone a week and you were supposed to be 2 hours away so I could come if something happened. Instead your half way across the country in the city where your parents were murdered, hanging out with the fucking enemy, wearing white frilly dresses. What the fuck has happened this week?" He stepped forward and I raised an eyebrow warning him to not step any closer.

"You need to take a chill pill." I blew the smoke in his direction. If I was lucky someone would see the smoke signal and send help. God knows I'd loose it here.

"A fucking chill pill. Are you joking? Who do you think you're talking to Maddy?"

"A prick." He stepped forward and I put the cigarette in my mouth, pulling the gun out and pointing it at him to show him I was serious. "Sit your ass down and don't fucking move." His eyes grew dark. "I'm already fucking wounded. I'm not pissing about with you pinning me against a wall anymore."

"You- WOUNDED?" He stepped forward quickly knocking the gun out my hand, throwing it to the floor. See this is why we double weapon with him around. "Where?"

"Arlo." I looked at him, the cigarette falling to the floor. Fuck sake I really needed that. "Get your hands off me. I'm fine."

"No you're not show me where." I stared at him, snarling. He grabbed my arm and I didn't flinch. I could cry but I was not taking this jumper off for him to see the marks. "Do not make me strip you off Maddy."

"You won't like what you see if you do." I pressed my lips together. Internal thought Maddelena. That's an INTERNAL thought. His eyes were black, was he even breathing? He looked like I imagined every bad guy aspires to look.

"Why won't I Maddy?"

"Um." He didn't even give me chance to think of an answer, he pulled the zipper down on my hoodie, dragging my arms out of it. I was exhausted and achy. I didn't have the strength or energy to fight against him.

"So you slept with him?" Okay now he was breathing. Hard. Nostrils flaring and not only were his pupils black, but now it was his entire eyes. "I'll fucking kill him." I laughed.

I fucking LAUGHED.

Oh Maddy. That was not smart.

He had me pinned to the wall by my throat in an instant.

"Did you just fucking laugh at me Maddelena? Do you not believe I'll do it because I fucking will. I warned you. I fucking told you any man touches you and he dies."

"Funny, that's the same thing he said to me about you specifically."

"Oh so he's going to kill me too?" I smirked. MADDELENA STOP. You're making it worse. "Maddelena."

"What?" I put my good hand on his, trying to pull him off. "Fucking put me down Arlo."

"Why did you sleep with him?"

"Because I wanted to."

"Why did you actually sleep with him?"

"Because I fucking wanted to." I snapped, looking up into his abyss. "Because he treats me better than you ever could and doesn't pin me against walls by my neck." I raised my eyebrows. "Put. Me. Do-" A knock at the door. "If I don't answer that someone's going to come in." He scowled, letting me go.

Saved by the fucking door. Who'd have thought it.
