I can't believe I let them drag me out. I'm all for drinking your sorrows away. But in a club in a skimpy little dress? I could be doing something productive with my time. But no. Arlo had to insist. I can feel him watching me from the bar. Making sure no other man gets too close.

I thought the punch this morning might have knocked some sense into him. To stop treating me like I was his and he could speak to me how he liked. I wasn't.

A few too many birthday drinks. That's all it was. Sure there was an attraction there. There shouldn't be, no. There was though. I've been ignoring it for years. But I think the drinks and him being close I just- lost my mind? I don't know.

He looked so good in that shirt though. His hand on my waist as I danced. Him breathing against my neck under the hot lights. It all just got the better of me. It shouldn't have. It really shouldn't have. I know. I have too much to loose with him specifically. And now it was all fucked up and he wants more and I just need my best friend back. God.

No excessive drinking around Arlo it is then. I can't trust myself. And now he's got the bloody black eye I gave him. And he's looking at me right now, through the crowd of girls, all better for him than me. All of them girls he could protect from the world, help them hold their innocence tight.

But mine? My innocence was long gone. I didn't need protecting. Or saving. That's what he wanted. Someone to save.

Also. He's like a best friend and work colleague, mashed into one. The fact that I slept with him even once kind of grosses me out. We weren't even that close before. I mean sure I could talk to him about more than I could anyone else. But I could go weeks without seeing him and not really be bothered.

But if he keeps looking at me like that. God the crimes I'd commit for him if he didn't stop.

"You're boyfriend doesn't look to happy you're out here." A voice whispered in my ear and I lifted my head to see who it was.

Hello baby blue. Jesus.

"He's not my boyfriend." I said back, not taking my eyes from his.

"He's looking at you like he is." I moved my eyes back to Arlo's as baby blue put his hand around my waist, pulling my body against his. "If he's not your boyfriend why does he look like he want to kill me?"

"Because he does." I swallowed. "You should go."

"I'm not scared of him."

"You really should be." I chuckled and watched as Arlo stood up, but this guy didn't move. "Look, you don't know who you're messing around with. He isn't afraid to actually kill you."

"And he doesn't know who he's playing with if he even tries it baby." He spun me around. "If you're not his then tonight you're mine." My hear was pounding in my chest, like it was going to break out through my bones. God those eyes. "What's your name?"

"Ana." He smiled.

"Nice to meet you Ana. I'm Luca."

"Luca. You're going to get yourself killed for touching me."

"I'd like to see him try princess." He lifted his head, looking around for Arlo. "Let's get out of here."

"I shouldn't-"

"You're safe with me. They're all afraid of me." I looked behind me, feeling Arlo's energy moving closer to me. "Come on." He grabbed my hand and before I knew it, I was being pulled off the dance floor and out the club. I watched his hand in mine the whole time.

I'd dated guys. Men. Boys I was supposed to like. Mark, Jacob, a few others that didn't last as long as they did. None of them felt like this when they held my hand.

"So, you're single right?" He spoke finally, breaking the tension as he pulled me down the street, stopping by a car. "Or is there some other guy that's going to try kill me too?"

"No. Just him. His friends maybe. I'm single." I nodded. He dropped my hand, opening the car door for me.

"Good. Get in." I looked behind me at Arlo, just leaving the club down the street.

"DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE GET IN THAT CAR MADDY." I got in, letting Luca close the car door. I watched as he jumped over the hood and climbed in, taking off quickly.

"So, Maddy?" He raised an eyebrow, watching Arlo in the rear view mirror. I pulled my phone out, turning it to airplane mode to stop the calls that I was about to be inundated with.

"Ana." I said plainly.

"Who's Maddy?"

"Not me." I put my phone back. "Not for you anyway." He smirked, looking over at me quickly.

"So who is he, if he's not your boyfriend?"

"Family friend."

"You don't say much." He chuckled and I shifted in the leather seat.

"And all you do is ask about him."

"I'm just curious." He looked over at me. "You didn't look happy in there tonight."

"I didn't really want to come out."

"Oh no?"

"No. I'd rather be home doing something productive with my time." He chuckled. "What's so funny?"

"Nothing." He pulled over, turning the keys and ignition off. "Tell me about yourself Ana."

"Well what do you want to know?"

"What do you do?"

"I work for a friend's family business." I smiled as his eyebrows furrowed.

"Mysterious." One half of his lips pulled up into a smile. "Let me buy you a drink now you're not being watched. Maybe I can see you smile again." He turned quickly, climbing out the car. I tried my own door but it was locked. This was a stupid decision wasn't it? Running off with some guy I'd never met. Arlo is going to kill me when I see him next. Like actually murder me.

He opened my door and I looked at him with scrunched brows.

"Oh, child lock. I don't like ladies letting themselves out the car. That's my job."

Okay we have a gentleman. That's attractive. No. Stop it.

God 3 drinks and you turn into such a whore Maddelena.
