"Nearly there baby."  Lu kissed me cheek as we leaned back against the wall.

"How we holding up guys?" I reloaded my gun, speaking to the rest of the group. We had to split into 2 in order to take this down as seamlessly as possible. Lu refused to leave me which meant Z and Ethan were with the other half. I'd given them more men to account for it.

"We're okay. A few minor casualties."

"How minor?" I asked looking at Lu. I didn't want to loose anyone. I looked back, noticing shadows creeping down the corridors beside up. I put my finger over my lips, counting quickly. 6. I held up 3 fingers, shaking it twice.

"Just grazes, they'll survive. How about you guys?"  I bit my lip gently, quickly bopping my head around the corner and taking 3 down. Lu tried to step forward but I put my hand on his chest, pushing him back. I had this. He did as he was told, holding his hands up and smirking at me. I smiled back, quickly bringing down the other 3.

"Good yeah." I looked back "We're all good?" They all nodded, giving thumbs up. "Yeah all good. Where are you guys?"

"Coming up the the stairs now." I peaked my head around the corner, watching the stairs door open.

"Z stop." I whispered, shaking my hand back to the rest of my group. I tucked my hair behind my ear, giving it a second before peeking again and counting quickly. "20."

"Fuck." I leaned back against the wall.

"No it's fine. 20 here means 20 less as we go up." I looked back at half of my team. signalling for half of them to move down. "Z send half your guys down to the bottom wall. 3 smaller teams. Us from the top corners, them from the middle." There was some hustling on the mic as Lu put his hand on my hip, letting me know he was still here. I let out a breath, instantly relaxing slightly. He always knew what to do.

We were 2 floors up out of the 4. Half way to where needed to be. We had disconnected the lift so there was no way out other than through the floors we had already cleared. The closer we got to the top, the angrier I got. I knew they knew we were here. They probably didn't know why or who we were. They would be scrambling to work out who we were. I don't think they would.

"Okay." Z confirmed they were ready and I took a deep breath, moving my hand, signalling for my team to get ready.

"Okay on my count everyone. Easy with the bullets. If any of you get shot I will follow through my promise of finishing the job myself." Lu smiled. "1." I peeked again, keeping my voice low. They didn't know we were here right now. Probably thought we'd gone upstairs by how they were hanging around the staircase. "2." I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. "Now." We all jumped forward, ambushing the group and taking them down one by one, blood covering the room like a flood.

I pulled the trigger again, watching the last guy collapse as the blood ran down his face. I stood up, nodding at Z that I was okay.

"All good?" I looked back at my team, counting and quickly walking into the middle aisle. "Z how many did you send down here?" I looked back as he came up beside me. He counted. "Everyone's here?"

"Yeah. Everyone." I sighed nodding quickly.

"Okay good. Let's go. Stairs." I spun around, taking the lead as I had done the entire time. They didn't trust me that I had all of their best interests at heart. That I didn't want any casualties. They expected me to be like my dad, brutal, heartless, that I didn't care who would be destroyed as long as I got what I needed.

Me taking the lead proved to them that wasn't true. I was putting my own life above theirs. Lu and the other 2 boys hated it. But I insisted. I knew what I was looking at that way too. I needed to be able to see it with my own eyes. Having other people tell me wasn't that helpful.

We stayed silent, climbing the stairs. I'd go up a few, looking up the next set, nodding if we were okay and then they'd follow. I could see Lu's face every time I walked away from him. He desperately wanted to be in front of me, protecting me. I might let him at another one, let him have the control, be my knight in shining armour. But tonight. This was my glory and no one else's.

I looked through the doors onto the next level, peeking my head through. Lu stuck close, hand on my hip. I pulled him off me, pulling my knife out of the holster on my back, telling him to stay put as I slowly walked to the end of the hall where one guy stood talking on the phone. Maybe he didn't have a clue what was happening. He had his back to me, stood in the middle of the corner between 2 corridors. I peaked down the other one.

"No she thinks I don't know she's here." I snarled at the accent. Obviously he's talking about me. "She's right behind me." I lowered my brow as he turned, holding the gun at me. I smiled, ducking, as Lu pulled his trigger and came running over.

"You okay?"

"Yeah fine." I grabbed his phone, hanging up the call and turning it off. "Prick." I sighed. "Okay Z." I signalled for him to go the other way. "Want to take the lead here?" I tilted my head at Lu who furrowed his brow. "Just this corridor? I can tell you're going mad." I flicked off my mic. "Plus you look really hot covered in blood." I smiled, turning it back on. He smirked, wrapping his hand around my waist tightly.

"Lets finish this and get you some mozzarella sticks." I chuckled as he moved, grabbing my hand and pulling me down the corridor. I watched our hands, intertwine. Both of them covered in blood of people we'd taken ammo from, searching their bleeding bodies for anything we needed to get through this.

"Mads?" He stopped, turning us around.

"What?" He leaned over and flicked off both our mics.

"We've been together what like 3 months?" I looked behind him.

"You want to talk about us right now?"

"Yeah." He smiled moving forward and wrapping his arms around me. "Have I told you I love you?" My eyes went wide. Did he just- What? Right NOW? A moving shadow caught my eye and he just held his gun out, shooting as they came around the corner without even looking. My god.

"N-no?"

"I do. I love you so fucking much."  I looked behind him again. "Stop looking away."

"Stop doing this when we're literally in the middle of a job." I looked back at him.

"Say it back."

"Lu-"

"Do you?"

"Yes."

"Then say it."

"I love you too Lu."
