Are we only making friends,
So that we can construct a tearful goodbye?
Are we only getting to know each other,
So we can ultimately cry?
Is friendship really forever?
Or is it ending too fast?
Does friendship really have no bounds?
Or does it never last?
Will I know you forever,
Or will you just disappear?
Will we get to live out life together,
Or will you not last this year?
The future can be tempting to think about,
Intoxicating, fascinating, and better than the past.
But the present is always more important,
So think about how to make it last.
