Listen up people, I've got a story to tell,
Grab your drinks, snacks, and everything else.
Make yourself comfortable, sit back and enjoy,
Today, I'll be talking about friends.

Well, the tale goes like this,
I once had a friend who brought me calm and peace,
A friend who really understood me and stood by me,
A friend who always made my sadness release.

Everything was fine and good in the first few months,
I never really noticed any change in her conduct.
But, as time went on, I gradually realized,
Somehow, her heart, I had touched.

Somehow, she began to care for me,
And for the first few months, I was oblivious.
I had no idea about it at all, until one day,
When my brain pointed out the obvious.

It's best not to dwell on the things,
That happened after I found out.
The outcome after a while was,
We were forced to live without.

A little time later, we reunited,
And were again the best of friends,
We had a bond that couldn't be broken,
And a strength that couldn't be less.

She was the one whom I trusted the most,
I trusted her with my life, and more.
Never once in my life did I think,
That someday, I'd be facing the door.

I never thought I'd ruin her life,
I only wanted the best for her.
But the fact that she's gone right now,
Makes me think of what we were.

Now I cry when I picture the old days,
Her laughing along with me.
I never thought I'd reach a position like this,
I guess I didn't want to see.

Was I wrong in placing my trust in someone?
I don't even want to know.
All I know now is that she's gone, and she may never be back,
And I've never felt this low.
