Fleetway's Torment

Acceptance

(Nobody Pov:) Infinite is floating high in the air and thinking what he truly wants to do. Sure he could simply kill Fleetway but would it really be worth his reputation as an officer to end him?

There was a specific person appearing in his mind. The one that seemed to trust. The one that he might be able to get guidance from. But...are they naive to trust him?

(Zero pov:) I need to see if he trusts me. If he sees me as more than something to die.

I fly towards the station, waiting in the air untill I see him. Sure, I could walk in and ask him now but the others would realize I have the ruby and likely try to ask why...I could be arrested again..I could be in prison. They could take the ruby away..and I'd be nothing...

Not again 

I bring my hands to my head and try to calm my Manic thoughts but it is incredibly challenging.

They won't take it away...They won't. They can't. They are too weak-

I spot him, the red wolf. The one who doesn't seem to fear me. The one...I need to see.

(Nobody Pov:) The red wolf, Rook, walks away from the police station when he hears the sound of the ruby. It is quite loud due to  Infinite's hovering so he looks up, Infinite just barely makes it out of sight in time.

(Rook Pov:) There's nothing there? ...I guess I should've known but what could of made that noise? Eh, it doesn't matter.

I start to walk towards my home, occasionally hearing the same sound again. What the hell could that be? I look around again and don't see anything... again. ...A sound doesn't just stalk you... (Congrats Rook, you have a brain.)

My fur begins to stand on end as I walk closer to my home.

Maybe I should tell Zero about this. Sure I have my skills and wits as an officer but...he's stronger than me. Yesterday proved it! He must have worked out because his chest looked bigger! ...or something was under his shirt...but what could he hide?

(Infinite Pov:) I continue to follow Rookie, being alert to not let him see me. What can I do to make this damn ruby quieter?

I audibly groan from annoyance.

Should I just go and tell him now? I can't be bothered to wait!

(Rook Pov:) That kind of sounded like ...Zero. I look around but don't see him and I sigh.

Turning back in the direction of my home, I see it just down the road and walk over. Searching my pockets, I pull out my keys and insert them into the keyhole before opening the door and walking inside and shutting the door and removing my keys.

I remove my shoes and walk upstairs to my room (don't worry, he is wearing socks) and drop my keys on my desk. Then I remove my police uniform and drop it in my cupboard before I throw on some beige shorts and as I put on a black shirt I hear a knock at the door.

'Be there in a sec!' I grab my keys, run down the stairs and put the key in the door.

(Infinite Pov:) How should I say this to him?

Rook, do not ask about the mask, or the ruby, no no it isn't the same one that Mephiles mentioned- no...

Its Zero. Listen Rook I need to ask you a question... what do you see me as- ....I shouldn't instantly ask him...

Just... listen to me- Absolutely fucking not. Too needy, too...embarrasing... (oh zero is scared of being embarrased hmmmm..)

Before I  can plan any further, Rook opens the door and I look at his face. He is taking a long look at my mask, he seems to both be somewhat concerned yet also calm. Does he recognise me?

'That you Zero?'
'It is. How could you tell?'
'Cuz you're a jackal.' Did he really just-
'I'm just messing with you! Hehehe!' He nudges me with his arm slightly.
'Then...how?'
'No jackal has your hair, Zero.' He has...took the time to think about my hair?

'And is that the ruby Scourge was on about?'
'No..it-'
'Listen.. I noticed yesterday how tense you seemed about this. Just be honest.'
'Sometimes I forget how good of an officer you are.' After saying that, I see Rookie blushing. Why is he blushing?

'Well...I would say you are better than me but..I'm not the thief here.' I sigh and look down at the floor. 'Hey I'll make a deal with you. If you stop stealing then I won't tell the others.'

Does he not realize I could destroy him at any moment? Or...does he know I really wouldn't.

'Fine..I agree to these terms-' All of a sudden, Rook pulls me into his house and closes the door before locking it.

'Rook, what are you doing?'
'Just lessening the chances that you are seen.'
'You care that much?'
'Sure I do... you are my partner after all.' With this kind of cocnern, anyone would think he meant that romantically. But..that'd never happen..right?

'Well I...appreciate it...'
'You're welcome... and also what's with the mask?'
'To not reveal my identity-'
'It looks nice man! Did you make it yourself?'
'I did-'
'Well you should be proud of that because it looks great.'

Well I...didn't think that it was that well made but if he likes it then..surely it's good.
'Thank you Rook-'
'But you look better.'

What? Did he...just ...?

(Rook Pov:) Why is he silent....WAIT DID I SAY THAT OUT LOUD!? OH MY GOD!?

My face is heating up and I start to sweat a storm.

'I..uh..is it getting hot in here?' 
'Rook did you..really just-' Some strange red cubes circle between us.
'What are these cubes?'
'They are...made by the ruby..'
'So...the ruby can make things appear? Are they physical?'
'Well...they are more like...energy and not physical but...they can be touched.'
'What do you mean?'
'If the cubes touch something living then it can affect them like by showing them false images, hurting them and probably more.'

He is really interested in this. Guess he doesn't fear me.
'Sounds pretty good. No wonder Mephiles started a search for it but...I wonder how Scourge got it.'
'That is a good question for another time.'
'You're right.'

'Would you...like to know why I took it- '
'Sure but you can tell me another time.'

I grab him by the arm and drag him to my living room and sit down.

'First we can watch something.'
'Rook, is this really the right time-
'Sure.. and to be honest it might be fun.'

I smile at him and wait for his answer.

'Fine...we can.' He sits next to me and I pat his back a bit.
'Hey calm down okay. I won't tell anyone.'
'Thank you-'
'But first you are removing your mask'
'Why?'
'Because I want to see your cute face.'
'Cute? Do you think I'm cute?!' OH I TOUCHED A NERVE!
'I meant like..handsome!' After saying that Zero laughs.

He removes his mask and smiles at me and I blush.
'Calm down, I was joking.'
'Oh I-I knew that.' I blush more and more.

(Nobody Pov:) For some time, the jackal and the wolf just sit and watch some tv while occasionally talking to each other but both enjoy one and others company.

End
