Fleetway's Torment

Disaster

(Scourge Pov:) The closer I get to the hospital, the more I see the glow of Silver's psychokinesis. Gritting my teeth, I spin into a ball and crash through a window. When inside, I see hundreds of people screaming, injured, dead or crying. I also notice some people are attacking each other.

I don't understand what Manic meant by creatures attacking untill I see a group of shadows. Literal shadows. Some are attacking people while others are just looking around. Some of the shadows are turning other people into them!

Noticing the police, I notice that bullets seem inactive against the shadows but lasers seem to harm them.

Tracing the cyan lines, I see Silver multitasking holding the building and pushing back shadows. I run over and attack the shadows, after a few hits they vanish.

'S-Scourge!' Silver says out of breath.
'Hey. Where's Manic and Sunky?'
'They- watch out!' I turn to my side and notice at the last moment a shadow trying to hit me but before they do, a laser pierces right through them and they vanish. I look and see Mephiles who shot a blast with one hand while also holding Fleet.

'Good timing-'
'Silver!'
'Meph..hey.' Silver and Mephiles look at each other, Silver smiles and Mephiles seems overjoyed to see him alive. I question for a second where Infinite is untill I spot him dash into a group of shadows and explode, causing them all to vanish.

He rushes over.
'This place is falling apart.'
'Nah what gave that away?'
'We should leave-'
'No! Not untill I find Manic and Sunky.   Can you help Silver hold the place?' I notice Silver look at Infinite with a pleading expression and he sighs.
'I can try just..be quick.'
'Thank you. Mephiles will you be able to defend them?'
'Of course.' He places Fleet down nearby.
'Okay. Where are they?'
'They stayed at the ward. Sunky was scared.'

I hate to think how either of them are dealing with this. Not wanting to question it any further, I run towards the ward. The hallways feel as if they last forever from how identical they are but I know that I'm really moving towards them.

Most rooms have makeshift barricades infront of the doors. I run faster than ever and when I see the entrance to the ward, I dash right into it and break it open.

I feel a growing sense of unease in my stomach which only skyrockets when I spot Exe down the hall. He's talking to Manic and Sunky. Manic is holding Sunky tightly in his arms as Exe walks closer. I can hear him laughing.

I won't let him harm them.

He won't take them from me.

He'll die first.

With a final burst of speed, I go straight for Exe and punch him straight in the jaw and he is sent flying straight through a wall. My fist hurts and I notice blood on it.

'Manic, behind me.' Manic gets behind me. I look at the gap in the wall caused by Exe and see him getting up, bones and teeth peeking out of his jaw.

Exe tries to talk, every attempt looks painful  and more of his teeth and blood come out of his mouth yet he continues.

'S-Scou..rge' I've clearly ruined his jaw as he is speaking in a way I haven't heard before. Its incredibly raspy yet deep as well.  'I'm....Imp..ressed' I back away and Manic does the same, backing towards the entrance. Only now I hear Sunky's crying.

'L-lit..tle one...you may...wa-ant to l..look away...at t-this part...' I glare at Exe as he speaks to Sunky. I see him glowing with red energy that he blasts at Manic and Sunky. I pull them out of the way and begin to run back towards the others.

'S-scourge he's catching up!'
'Fuck!' I'd hoped somehow fucking up his jaw would slow him down but Manic's exclamation seems to have disproven my hope.

I run faster and faster yet suddenly feel a hand on my leg that yanks me back, causing me to drop Sunky and Manic. Manic looks at me with fear in his eyes and Sunky does the same

'G-go. Run to the oth- grrk' I can no longer speak as I feel myself being choked, Exe's claws digging into my neck causing me to bleed. Yet I smile as I see Manic running with Sunky.

'I have met...many..many...f-fools i-in my lifetime...b-but n-none..are as ..ins-sufferable as you...' I grin at Exe's remark and he growls in anger.
'I..accept...the h-honor...bitch' Its painful to talk but if I am going to die then i'm letting the one killing me know that i'm better than them. And to know that i'm keeping Exe from getting to the others is more motivation.

'Prep..are to die..' I smile, knowing he doesn't think i'm capable of fighting him. I feel Exe's grip tighten and when he does, I kick him full strength in the groin. His face shows me that he's in pain but that only makes his grip tighter and I feel too weak to attack again. I close my eyes, preparing myself for the end.

Manic, Sunky, Fleet, Silver, Mephiles, X, Zero... they're safe from him while he's distracted by me. Maybe I haven't been the most reliable, most caring, most believable person recently... but i've kept them safe.

My brother  was found and saved.

I've spent time with Manic.

Been with Mephiles and Silver.

I've made new allies or..friends in X and Infinite

And I...had a son. Sunky... maybe I haven't been there when I should've been... but all I can hope is Manic keeps him safe.

I'm at peace, and in that peace I notice I don't feel like i'm being choked.

Am I dead?

Wonder where i'll end up.

Up high or down below.

Curiously, I open my eyes and see i'm still in the hospital but someone is standing infront of me. It takes a moment before I realize who it is.

Shadow.

(Shadow Pov:) I glare at Exe, he glares back at me.

'Return...my...prey.'
'I'm not your slave. I'm Shadow the hedgehog! The ultimate lifeform!'
