The crowds cheered for the first match as robots came over to take Shinso to Recovery Girl's nurse office.
"Well that was a lame but kind of excited first match, right? Let's move on to the next round!" Present Mic announced as the audience was now hyped up for the next match.
"That match is between Hatsume and Iida. But, I'm not interested in that. More importantly..." Izuku looked back at Shinso, who was on a stretcher, being taken to the Nurse's Office. "How the hell did know how to use Haki?"
Izuku didn't say anything as he just walked away towards the tunnel. Toshinori sighed as he came over.
"You had me worried sick back there."
"Sorry."
"It's fine, Young Midoriya. But how did you get out of Young Shinso's Brainwashing?" His question made Izuku remember the eight shadows in the tunnel, all with golden eyes.
"It had to do something with One For All. In that moment, I saw eight shadows, probably the predecessors of One For All. And... one of them... looked like you, All Might." Izuku said before he looked up to see how shocked his mentor was.
"I-I'm a ghost?!"
"I thought you knew!"
"No, I also saw it before, in my younger days." Toshinori replied as he crossed his arms in a serious manner.
"What does that mean?"
"I think it's like a trace of something they left behind in One For All. Vestiges of their souls, if you will. It's a sign that you're getting a handle on One For All. But I believe the vision is not what got rid of the brainwashing. It was that when you saw the vision, your strong emotion, drive, willpower and determination to win allowed you to overcome Young Shinso's Brainwashing just long enough where you were able to draw out an amount of energy from One For All to snap you out of it. At least, that's what I think." Toshinori finished his explanation.
"That explanation seems to be fair...I did feel it coursing through my fingers." Izuku said as he scratched his head.
"Don't get too hung up, kid! You won the match and that's all that matters! More importantly, don't you need to go see who you'll be fighting in the quarterfinals?" His teacher asked, making his eyes widen.
"You're right! I gotta go now! Thanks All Might!"
"Young Midoriya, wait!" However, it was too late as Izuku ran through the tunnel. Lucci's words were in his ears.
"You're being targeted... but I couldn't tell you it soon enough."
Izuku was running up the bleachers before someone called out. "Midoriya!" He turned to see Ochaco and Momo next to each other as the brown-haired girl pointed at empty seat. "We saved you a spot!"
"Thanks!" He jumped down to see Iida and Mei in the arena. "This match is between Iida and Hatsume, right?"
"Yeah, he's facing Hatsume." Momo said as they were all now waiting for the match to begin.
The flames ignited in all four corners of the ring signaling that it was time for the next match to start.
"Thanks for waiting! Next up are these guys!" Present Mic announced as the crowd cheered seeing the next two participants enter the ring.
"It's like he's the epitome of the middle of the pack! From the Hero Course, it's Tenya Iida!"
"Middle of the pack?!" Iida shouted.
"Versus-- Fully-equiped with support items! From the Support Course, it's Mei Hatsume!"
"He's up against the Support Course, huh?" Kyoka said.
