My mom had called to check up on me. I had missed my parents and eighteen year old brother, Cole and my sixteen year old brother, John. I honestly needed to talk to a family member. Living in New York alone was hard and I sometimes I had never moved and left West Virginia.

"I am getting extra time to write more thanks to the publishing house." I sighed into the phone.

"Maybe you should come home then," Mom suggested. "I hate that you are alone like this. Dealing with Rachel's death and there is a killer out there." I heard her softly sigh.

"I wish I could but I can't and I'm not completely alone," I responded. "Jolene, Bree and Rebecca have been a big help." I assured her.

"Who is Rebecca? Is she a new friend of yours?" Mom asked.

"Yeah," I answered. "I met her at a coffee shop recently. She is realky sweet but she goes by Bex. She says it was a childhood nickname." I explained.

"Oh, I see." Mom replied. "Just be careful with her."

"What do you mean?" I asked. "She likes my books and she's at a college here." I said.

"Just be careful," Mom said letting out a loud sigh. "New York is crazy dangerous." Mom warned.

"I know," I sighed in defeat. "I just wish they would find Rachel's killer already."

"I hope so too but you can come home for awhile if you change your mind." Mom assured me.

"Thanks mom, that means a lot." I mumbled.
