I was sitting on the plane alone in my thoughts. I tried to watch a movie but I was not even paying attention and forgot what I had even turned on. Bex's words stung and I had started to feel bad for leaving. Don't you believe that I can be there for you and protect you, Sabrina? I don't see why you are so worried. This could just be a random killer, this is New York City after all. Are you sure about that? Bex's words echoed in my mind as if she were punishing me because I deserved it.
"Are you alright?" The elder woman who sat next to me asked and I winced. Her waem blue eyes met mine and she gave me a warm smile. She looked like she was in her sixties. She had short, curly gray hair.
"Yeah," I lied and slowly nodded. "I'm fine." I lied again and sighed in defeat hoping she would not see right through me. Please buy this. Please be okay with my answer. Please let this go.
"You just look deep in thought... I thought I should ask." The woman responded.
"Thank you." I responded and smiled at her.
"What's your name?"
"I am Sabrina Hart, what about you? What is your name?" I asked and smiled more.
"My name is Martha Bailey." Martha answered.
"It's nice to meet you, Martha." I responded offering my hand.
"It is nice to meet you too, Sabrina." Martha replied and shook my hand.
"Who are you visiting?" I asked.
"I'm moving away from New York, it is too noisy for me." Martha chuckled.
"Yeah," I giggled nodding. "It can be."
"So... you are you visiting or is it something else?" Martha asked.
"I am visiting my family for a few days." I answered. "I just need to get out of New York City for a little while."
