I sighed out of boredom as I checked my phone after everyone and I were ready for bed. I checked my emails and texts and I had gotten a few texts from Bree and Jolene who were simply checking up on me and making sure I was okay. I decided to text our group chat that now included Bex and texted them this.
Hey girlies! I spent the day with my family. It's late but I really appreciate and love you guys! Goodnight :)
I frowned as I saw that Bex had not texted or bothered to call me at all. Was she really still mad at me for going home? I thought we were okay. Am I going crazy? Am I being selfish? I should call her and make sure she is okay. Maybe she has been busy like me? Bex is in college after all. I thought to myself. I decided to call her and just check in with her and make sure she was okay. But by my surprise, Bex answered.
"Hey Bex, how have you been?" I asked putting her on speaker phone as I changed into my favorite pink PJS.
"Hey... umm... to be totally honest, I have thought about the whole Bex nickname," Bex said. "And I decided to just go by my name Rebecca from now on." Rebecca sighed into the phone.
"This is not about what Rachel said at the party, is it?" I asked. "You don't have to let what Rachel said get to you, she was always like that." I sighed and frowned as I instantly started feeling bad about talking bad about her after her passing and brutal death. That was too harsh.
"No, no, no," Bex chuckled. "Rachel had nothing to do with that I just don't like it anymore."
"Uhh..." I trailed off. "That is cool, I will call you Rebecca then from this day forward."
"Thanks bestie." Rebecca responded as I heard her smile.
"No problem." I assured her as I took the phone and took her off speaker phone as I placed in in my ear. "I did want to ask if you were okay."
"Why would I not be okay?"
"Before I left, we had that fight, I wasn't sure if we are okay or not." I answered with a loud sigh.
"Don't sweat it, we are cool." Rebecca giggled.
"We are?" I asked and bit my lip nervously.
"Yeah, of course." Rebecca answered.
"Oh, thank goodness," I sighed in relief. "I thought you would hate me forever."
"Hate you?" Rebecca responded sounding surprised. "I could never hate you... we are best friends forever and ever." Rebecca assured me and I heard the confidence in her voice. "I am your biggest fan after all, I could never ever hate you."
"Thanks, girl." I replied and smiled. "That really means a lot to me, you have no idea." I said, smiling.
"What are friends for?" Rebecca chuckled in the phone.
"Stuff like this, I guess." I giggled and shrugged.
"I will always have your back and I will always protect you from any kind of harm." Rebecca promised as I heard the smile in her voice.
"Thanks," I sighed in the phone. "I still feel bad for leaving you and the girls with that killer running around." I admitted to her.
"There is something I did want to talk to you about though." Rebecca sighed loud.
"Shoot." I responded.
"Bree and Jolene have been giving me problems since you left." Rebecca sighed.
"What kind of problems?" I asked a bit concerned and a little bit confused.
"I feel like I am being constantly interrogated and Bree even said I don't deserve to be your friend and threatened to steal Jolene's gun and use Jolene's gun on me." Rebecca answered and I heard her sniff.
"What?" I gasped in shock. "That doesn't sound like them at all, I know Bree is more overprotective but--"
"Listen, Sabrina, I think you need to examine your friend group. Bree and Jolene are clearly a bad influence on you." Rebecca interrupted me.
"I'm just really surprised that they have been giving you crap." I responded, still shocked and yet confused.
"If you don't believe me ask them yourself, good night." Rebecca hissed.
"Rebecca wait I will--" I started to say but stopped when she had hung up the phone.
