Dream ran over to hug his mom. Both were crying from what they just experienced. "Clay please don't cry, everything will be okay." Lauren spoke through her sobs which she was trying to hide her own
Dream tried his hardest to recollect himself. "Why did dad have to act like that? What even happened before?"
"We got back from the restaurant and he was mad, but i didn't know why. I was guessing because of you and Katrina but in my opinion the dinner went great." She took a pause and she wiped some of the tears away from her eyes. "And he started drinking his bourbon like usual but he just chugged the whole bottle. He finished the bottle only feeling tipsy and continued to drink another one. After that he threatened me to drive him here so you two could talk." She started crying even harder "I shouldn't have put you in a situation where you could he in danger, I'm so sorry."
"Don't apologize." Dream continued to hug his mom. "It wouldn't have ended any better if you didn't." There was a loud creaking noise come from the hallway. A figure came from the shadows, it was George.
He walked into the kitchen grabbing a ziplock bag filling it with ice. He took a hand towel and wrapped it around the bag. He walked over to the two holding out the bag of ice. "I kind of overheard what happened so here is an ice pack Mrs. Wastaken."
Lauren looked up at George, through tears a smile broke through. "Thank you so much George." She accepted the ice, placing it on her arm.
"Oh mom." Dream changed the subject. "You're going to be staying here for at-least tonight."
"Clay I'm not staying here." Lauren protested against the idea. "I will just go to the house by Daytona Beach, its not that far."
"Listen to me." Dream grabbed one of her shoulders "I'm not letting you go alone at least for this night. Remember dad gets alerts when someone enters the house."
"Then I guess I will stay with Erica." She walked over to the closest mirror, which was by the front door. She started to rub off the ruined mascara that was all down her cheek. "I'm going to go now. Bye idiot and George!" She walked to the door, exiting out of the house.
"Hey I'm sorry for causing that." George spoke through the silence. He felt arms pulling him into a hug.
"Nothing was your fault. I'm just a fucking dumbass. I guess i learned that from my father i guess."
"You said 'I guess' to many times in that sentence for my liking." George wiped a tear from Dream's face. "Don't cry."
"I just watched my father hit my mom and you expect me not to show an emotion?" Dream looked at George like he was a psychopath.
"You can only cry when someone dies. Everything else you cry for can be fixed. Don't cry over something that can be fixed."
"What if the vision of something is imprinted in your mind?" Dream questioned pulling away from the boy.
"You can fix it. You can fix that moment. You just have to put in the effort to change it." George paused for a second so he could cough. "Sorry Sapnap burnt my food. But back to what i was saying, i could have not left my home two months ago and fixed the problem. Even though i didn't make that change it was a fixable problem that doesn't seem to be one.
Dream processed everything the latter said realizing how awfully he put it, he was correct. "You're the most non-empathetic person i have met." Dream giggled to himself watching the other crack a smile
"I'm just honest." George chuckled audibly. "Do you want to go and get food? Sapnap fucked up my food."
"Yeah sure, i didn't eat much of my food." Dream looked behind him at the stove. It read nine twenty-three on the top. "I know its late but i have the perfect place."
