Chloe webbed her way through trees, taking down guards from their posts. She felt two large hands grip her shoulders and throw her roughly to the ground. She looked up to see a tall man, who very clearly had the size advantage over the girl, pulling out his gun and aiming at her head. His eyes widened slightly and he slumped to the ground.

Chloe scrambled quickly to get up. She spotted an arrow in the man's back. She looked around to see Kate stood at a post she had taken over. The black haired girl gave a smile and an enthusiastic wave. Chloe webbed over and mumbled a quiet "thanks." Before swinging away again.

Down below Cap was dragging a guard across the floor as he drove on his motorbike. The blonde man threw him upwards and Chloe webbed the Hydra worker to a tree. "Good job, kid!" Steve yelled before speeding away.

"Shit!" Tony yelled over comms, clearly having come across some sort of issue. "Language!" Cap shot back, making Chloe, Peter and Kate snicker. "Jarvis, what's the view from upstairs?" Steve spoke, paying no attention to what he had just said.
"The central building seems to be protected by some sort of..energy shield. Striker's technology is well beyond any other Hydra base we've taken." Jarvis answered back.

"Loki's sceptre must be here. Strucker couldn't mount this defence without it." Thor decided. "At long last." He added to himself. "At long last is lasting a little long, boys." Nat spoke up.
"Cough, cough." Chloe said sarcastically.
"You don't get a snarky comment aimed at you because you and Kate are my favourites." Natasha told her.

"Knew it." Chloe laughed.
"Oh good!" Kate grinned.
"So rude." Peter mumbled.

"Yeah! I think we lost the element of surprise." Clint huffed. Kate blew up a bunker with her trick arrow. "What gives you that idea?" She joked.

"Wait a second, no one else is gonna deal with the fact that Cap just said 'language'?" Tony questioned.
"I know, I know. It just...slipped out." Steve sighed. "That's what she said." Chloe responded, helping Peter tie up a band of guards with their webs. "Showing you the internet was the best idea I've ever had." Peter smiled. "I think you're confusing best and worst, Peter." Steve grumbled.

Kate ducked as a guard swung for her, kicking his legs and shooting an arrow into his back as he fell. She was then occupied by another three guards. Chloe helped out with a secret fourth who snuck up behind her. Chloe dropped to the ground, using her webs to collect any of Kate's stray arrows. She handed them over to the newer Avengers. "Thanks." Kate smiled her sweet smile, it's like it never left her face. "Yeah, no problem." Chloe nodded awkwardly. "Alright you awkward lovebirds, we've got work to do, snap out of it." Tony told them over comms.
"What?!" Kate exclaimed.
"Oh shut it Tin-head." Chloe huffed.

"We have an enhanced on the field!" Cap informed everyone. "Clint's hit!" Natasha alerted. Chloe watched as Kate's face dropped. She frantically started searching for her mentor. Chloe spotted them. "Can I?" She asked, reaching out, grabbing Kate's waist. She swung over to Clint's location, Kate tightly hugging into her arms.

Kate dropped down to Clint's side to help Nat aid the wound the best they could. She didn't get away quick enough for Chloe to miss her pink ears and cheeks. Must be the cold. "Does someone want to deal with that bunker?" Natasha asked. Chloe shot webs towards the gun on top, twisting it off with her super strength, sending it flying into a tree. Hulk slammed his fists down on the rest of it. "Thank you!" Natasha peeped up.

"Clint's gonna be alright, Chloe go help out more." Natasha ordered. Chloe gave a quick nod, instinctively taken the orders she was given.

"Stark, we really need to get inside!" Cap spoke through comms. "I'm closing in!" Tony told him. "Drawbridge is down, people!" He added not even a minute after.
"Clint's hit pretty bad guys, we're gonna need evac!" Natasha told everyone.

"Find the sceptre." Thor told Cap.
"And for gosh's sake; watch your language!" Tony piped in.
"That's not going away anytime soon, is it?" Steve sighed. "Not a chance." Chloe smirked, smashing a guard's head into a tree.

Soon enough the mission was complete and everyone was back on the Quinjet. Kate was fiddling with her hands, staring down at the floor. "Mr Barton will be okay, Kate. I'm sure of it." Peter told her, giving her shoulder a light tap. Kate just nodded. Chloe tapped her foot on the floor, watching as the girl anxiously picked at her fingers. Chloe looked at her own hands, getting an idea. She handed Kate one of her rings to play with. Natasha had given them to her, said they'd help with any anxiety she got, and they did. Kate gave her a thankful smile, turning the ring in her fingers before slipping it on.

Chloe turned her head, overhearing as Natasha raised her voice. "Thor, report on the Hulk?" She asked.
"The gates of hell are filled with the screams of his victims." Thor replied proudly. Natasha turned to him, here eyes wide and mouth agape. Bruce simply groaned and put his head in his hands. Chloe just about stifled a snort of laughter.
"But not the screams of the dead of course! No! No! No! wounded screams, mainly whimpers, complaining and tales of-" Thor attempted to make the situation better, failing miserably.

"Hey, Banner doctor Cho's on her way in from Seoul. Is it okay if she sets up in your lab?" Tony called.
"Yeah, she knows her way around!" Bruce answered back.

"Feels good, yeah?" Tony asked Thor. "Been after thing since SHIELD collapsed. Not that I haven't enjoyed our little raiding parties." Tony spoke.
"No but this, this brings it to a close." Thor smiled. "As soon as we find out what else this has been used for. I don't just mean weapons. Since when has Strucker been capable of human enhancement?" Cap sighed.

"Me and Banner will give it the once-over before it goes back to Asgard. Is that cool with you?" Tony turned to Thor. Thor returned the question with a nod. "Just a few days until the farewell party- you're staying right?" Stark questioned the god. "Yes, yes, of course. A victory should be honoured with revels!" Thor spoke heartily.

They all returned to the tower, stepping out, thankful to be back on solid ground after such a long flight. Chloe stretched, hearing cracks she wasn't quite sure were bad or good. "Hey, Chloe. Here." The brunette turned to see Kate holding the ring out to her. Chloe paused for a second. "Keep it. I've got plenty more." She gave Kate a genuine smile, pretty sure it was the first time. "Oh right- thank you!" Kate smiled. She sped up slightly to catch up with everyone else who had already started walking off.

Chloe smiled to herself. She was still getting used to making her own decisions but that had seemed like a good one. Kate's immediate smile at her answer had been worth it so surely it was the best choice she could make.
