Chloe worked on autopilot for a whole month after 'the blip'. She barely spoke, barely even clocked into reality. She practically all of her time in Kate's room. She wore Kate's clothes and slept in her bed. When she had first got back to the compound she had found the ring she had given to her girlfriend, she wore it from then onwards. She had put Kate's bow and quiver back where they were supposed to be, she dusted them anytime they got too dusty. Kate would need them for when she got back. Chloe told herself that. Kate was coming back at some point.

A knock on the door brought Chloe out of her daze. Natasha slowly opened the door. "Dinner's ready." She said softly. Chloe nodded and silently followed Natasha out to the kitchen to dish up her food. She began to make her way back to Kate's room when she felt a hand gently pull her backwards. "Come eat with everyone else, please." Natasha said. Chloe frowned and shook her head. "I don't want to." She spoke.

Natasha sighed and carefully rubbed Chloe's back. "Being alone isn't a good way to handle grief. We don't have a way of getting the blipped people yet back, until we do we need to try act like normal." Natasha said. Chloe clenched her fists. "She's coming back. They all are. Until then I want to be alone." She said sternly.
"Chloe please just sit with everyone. I don't like seeing you like this. Your upset I can tell but socialising will help you stay in reality so you don't think yourself to insanity." Natasha said, trying to keep a level tone.

Natasha flinched and Chloe was confused as to why until she felt a warm liquid drip from her hand. She looked down to see her fork snapped in half, one part had clattered to the ground, the other still in her hand. It had cut her. "Shit." Chloe mumbled. Natasha walked over to the cabinet and took out the small med kit. She quickly and quietly cleared up Chloe's cut and set a plaster over it. "I'll come sit with everyone else." Chloe mumbled. Nat smiled at her and nodded.

Everyone gave Chloe a smile as she sat down on the sofa. "What movie today guys?" Steve looked around.
"Maze runner?" Chloe suggested.
"Never watched it, is it good?" Pietro asked. Chloe shrugged. "Not sure. Kate said she liked it though." She said. Pietro just gave a nod. Steve found the movie and clicked on play.

Once everyone was finished eating and the movie was over, Steve suggested a round of games. "I'm tired, I'm gonna head to bed." Chloe dismissed herself. She went straight to Kate's room and got dressed into one of her girlfriend's hoodies and a pair of shorts. She got settled in bed and stained at the wall. It wasn't long until she fell asleep, anything she did these days seemed to drain her.

*three years later*

Chloe tapped her foot against the ground, staring at her hands. Recently she kept coming back to one thought. Something that was bugging her. Something that was always circling her mind. What Dreykov had said just before Chloe had killed him. 'I'll help you find your parents'. The thought of her biological parents made Chloe sick. They had left her to Hydra before she even knew what choices were. Yet something inside her desperately wanted to meet them. To see why they had left her. She had gotten rid of the parts of her past she hated, the only bits of her past she was unsure about were her biological family, it was time to figure out if she needed to get rid of that too.

An idea sprung to Chloe's mind. All the old files from Hydra were kept in the compound. They were locked away but that wouldn't be a problem for an ex assassin. At two in the morning, Chloe slipped out of her room and ventured down to the room where the files were kept. She broke her way in, careful not to trigger the alarms, and started going through the files.

She found it, her file. She skipped through and found exactly what she was looking for. The names of her parents. Marcus Johnson and Elizabeth Anderson. She went into the system and did a few hours worth of research. By the time she was done and had slipped back into Kate's room she heard Steve about to head out for his 5am run.

She spent the rest of the day trying to keep up a normal composure to anyone she ran into when she left her room. "You alright, you seem a bit off today?" Natasha said to her. "Oh I'm fine, had a nightmare last night is all." Chloe lied. Natasha gave her a sympathetic look and rubbed her shoulder. "Wanna tell me what it was about?" She questioned. Chloe shook her head. "Did you get enough sleep?" Natasha asked. "Not really." Chloe admitted.
"Go back to sleep then, I'll come get you when dinner's ready." Natasha told her. Chloe nodded and returned back to Kate's room.

She got her shoes on and grabbed a not and pen from Kate's desk. She quickly scribbled out 'gone to answer some questions, will be back in a few days. Don't come looking, I'll be okay. Love, Chloe'. She climbed out the window and webbed to where the cars were kept. She took one of Natasha's cars and began to drive to her first stop. Her father's house.

It took her a few days to get there. It was in England after all. She found the house and let out a deep breath. "Please don't have moved house." Chloe whispered to herself before knocking. It took a few seconds before the red door swung open. "Who are you? What do you want?" A tall man with short black hair stood at the door. His eyes were a pale blue seeming grey in the lighting. Chloe stared at her father. "Well?" He demanded.

"I'm Chloe Johnson, your daughter. I wanted to meet you." Chloe said, shaking herself out of her initial shock. Chloe was pulled inside the house. "You escaped Hydra. How?" The man demanded.
"My mum saved me." Chloe answered, taken aback by his aggression. "Lizzie saved you?" Marcus' face was smothered in rage. "No. I was adopted by someone after getting out of Hydra. She's my mum now." Chloe informed him. Marcus let out a sigh and nodded, he sat back on his leather sofa.

"Why did you give me away to Hydra and the Red Room?" Chloe demanded, feeling her heart race. Marcus rubbed his face before answering. "Thought you'd ask that. The answer is that I had to." Chloe stared at him, her face giving away her confusion. "What do you mean you had to?" She interrogated. "I used to work with Hydra. Had to give it up after an injury," Marcus responded, rolling up his jeans slightly to reveal a metal leg. "After they agreed to my release I owed them a debt. A debt for saving my life with the new leg and allowing me to live on for failing a mission. They said they needed a protege for their experiments, someone new, someone strong, someone who didn't ask questions. They decided to take the child of one of their best agents. That child was you."

Chloe felt a tear roll down her cheek. "You didn't try and argue with it? Didn't try and keep your daughter?" Chloe tried to keep her voice from breaking. "I had no choice. They would've killed me." Marcus stood up. "You're selfish then. You gave up my entire childhood, fucked up my life because you were too afraid." Chloe spat bitterly.
"You want a drink?" Marcus ignored her, walking over to the kitchen.

"Don't ignore me. You've done that my entire life and now I'm here I won't let you do it again." Chloe's voice was laced with anger. "Should've kept it that way." Marcus said bitterly. Chloe turned just in time to see him raise the knife. She jumped away. "You're a coward to kill your way out of this." Chloe told him. "An alive coward." Marcus said as he lunged forwards again.

Chloe punched him in the nose and he stumbled backwards, slashing wildly with the knife. Chloe tripped him and ripped the knife from his grasp. "Do it then." Marcus dared. "You can walk away from this. I'm not a heartless killer anymore." Chloe said quietly. "In this world it's kill or be killed," Marcus told her. Chloe felt realisation spark through her. If she didn't do it, he would. One of them would come out of this alive. "You wouldn't kill your father, would you?" Marcus' tone was dangerously venomous. "You didn't want to be my father before, I won't give you the chance now. I've never had a father, never will, thanks to you." Chloe raised the knife and struck. She got up from the floor, watching as the life drained from Marcus' eyes.

"Next up. Elizabeth." Chloe mumbled. She washed her hands in the sink and left the house, getting into the car and heading towards the address on her mother's file.
