Chloe leaned against the car door, watching as Tony put his daughter back inside his house. Chloe let out a sigh as Pietro nudged her forwards to stand beside Natasha and Steve. Tony came back out and looked at them all with a questioning look. Steve nodded to Scott to begin explaining.

"We know what it sounds like." Scott laughed lightly once he explained the idea of time travel. "Tony, after all you've seen, is anything really-" Steve began. "Quantum fluctuation messes with the Planck scale, which they triggers the Deutsch Proposition. Can we agree on that?" Just like usual Tony cut Steve off. "What?" Pietro frowned at his words, having difficulty understanding. Chloe shrugged at him, being equally as confused. Tony let out a small sigh. "In layman's terms, it means you're not coming home." He simplified. "I did." Scott cut in. "No. You accidentally survived," Tony corrected. "It's a billion to one cosmic fluke."

"Why didn't we think of this before? Oh! Because it's laughable. Because it's a pipe dream." Tony shook his head. "The stones are in the past; we could go back and we could get them." Steve explained. "We can snap our own fingers. We can bring everybody back." Natasha added. "Or screw it up worse than he already has, right?" Tony shrugged. "I don't believe we would." Steve told him.

"I gotta say I missed that giddy optimism. And Chloe, your snarky and witty comebacks of course. None of those today?" Tony said, a tight small making it's way onto his face. "Yeah, no. I've been working on that temper of mine. Wasn't exactly my best quality." Chloe told him. Ever since Chloe's last argument with Tony when he got back from Space, Natasha had begun helping Chloe deal with her negative emotions in more positive ways. She didn't have to push them down and ignore them like she did with Hydra or the Red Room, she just had to redirect them in a more helpful or positive way. Pietro had also joined in, he had a temper himself and working on their issues together, the two adults became close friends. "Well, good for you." Tony nodded, his smile becoming more relaxed and genuine.

"Steve, back to your giddy optimism, high hopes won't help if there's no logical or tangible way for me to safely execute said 'Time heist'," Tony turned his attention back to Cap. "I believe the most likely outcome will be our collective demise."
"Not if we strictly follow the rules of time travel. All right? It means no talking to our past selves, no betting on sport events-" Scott started. "I'm going to stop you right there, Scott," Tony spoke, putting his hand up to silence the man in front of him. "Are you seriously telling me that your plan to save the universe is based on back to the future?" He questioned. Scott scoffed quietly. "Is it?" Tony raised a brow at him.
"No."
"Good you had me worried there."

"That's now how quantum physics works." Tony shrugged. "Tony. We have to take a stand." Natasha piped up. "We did stand. And yet here we are." Tony said, his eyes scanning the group. "I know you got a lot on the line, Tony. You have a wife, a daughter. But we've all lost people very dear to us, partners, family, friends. And now, we have a chance to bring them back. To give everyone the happy life you have now. You're telling me you won't even?-" Chloe spoke up. "That's right, Chloe. I won't even." Tony said. Chloe let out a deep breath and everted her eyes from Tony. She had been working so hard to keep control over her temper and emotions, she had been doing well, she wasn't going to let one man ruin it.

The front door opened and a little brunette girl ran out. "Mommy told me to come and save you." She told Tony, climbing onto his lap. "God job. I'm saved." Tony told her, resting his head lightly on her shoulder in a hug. "I wish you were coming here to ask me something else. Anything else. I'm honestly happy to see you guys. I just- oh, look, table's set for seven-" Tony lifted his head to address the Avengers. "Tony I get it," Steve interrupted him. "And I'm happy for you. I really am. But this is a second chance." The blonde told him. "I got my second chance right here, Cap. Can't roll the dice on it." Tony said. "All I got left of my second chance is a bow and a fucking ring, but er- happy at least you got yours, Tony." Chloe told the man as she began walking back to the car, she immediately regretted the bitterness that had come through in her voice.
