Chloe stood beside Peitro, anxiously fiddling with Kate's ring. She looked over at Kate's old bow which was laying on a table near the time machine. The young brunette looked over to Pietro who was taking deep breaths to prepare himself. "Be careful. Look out for each other. This is the fight of our lives. And we're gonna win. Whatever it takes. Good luck." Steve spoke. He used the same strict and assuring tone he had whenever he had one of his pre-mission speeches. "He's pretty good at that." Rocket said.
"Right!" Scott exclaimed in agreement."See you in a minute." Natasha smiled at Chloe. Chloe grinned back. "See ya later, alligator." The machine was activated and the Avengers were off onto their missions.
"Oh, fuck no." Chloe sighed out, shaking her head at the sight of the looming Mountain in front of them. "C'mere." Pietro said, scooping Chloe up and speeding to the top of Vormir. "Thanks." She smiled.
"Phew! That was tiring." Pietro sighed out, leaning against a boulder for support."Oh! What the fuck is that thing?" Chloe gasped as she laid eyes on a caped figure approaching the duo. "Chloe; daughter of Marcus. Pietro; son of Natalya." The figure spoke. "I can't tell if it's comforting that he knows us or if it just makes the situation worse?" Chloe shook her head. "I say worse," Pietro shrugged. "Who are you?" He demanded. "Consider me a guide. To you, and to all who seek the soul stone." The cloaked figure responded. "Good, show us the stone then." Chloe said. "Ohhh, if only it were so easy." The red faced being said. "Could you just...pull the hood over more? Ever heard of sunscreen?" Chloe frowned at the disfigured look of the being's face.
The pair were lead by the cloaked being to the edge of Vormir. "Would not want to fall from there." Pietro grimaced as he took a peek over the edge, Chloe nodded in agreement. "What you seek lies in front of you. As does what you fear." The guide informed them. "The stone, it is down there." Pietro realised. "Steve might be Captain America but you're very clearly Captain obvious." Chloe joked. Pietro shoved his elbow into her arm lightly, with a laugh.
"In order to take the stone, you must lose that of which you love. An everlasting exchange. A soul, for a soul." The guide said. "So I can't just throw my ring down there, huh?" Chloe gulped.
Pietro and Chloe glanced at each other. "Whatever it takes." Chloe sighed out.
"Tell Kate and Nat I love them, say hi to Wanda from me too." Chloe told her friend as she began to make her way towards the edge. Pietro pulled her back. "You can't. You have more people waiting for you. It should be me. You and Wanda are also close, she sees you as a sister as much as I do. Keep her safe for me." Pietro said, his brows furrowed and his eyes showed a dangerous mix of fear and determination. "You're just scared my mum will yell at you when you get back." Chloe joked, hiding the tears threatening to spill down her cheeks. "She can't yell at me if I don't come back." Pietro spoke simply."Pietro-" Before Chloe could continue, the brunette man was making his way towards the drop. Chloe webbed him back, taking over him. Pietro stuck his leg out and Chloe let out a yell of pain as rocks scratched her palms. The two scuffled back and forth in an attempt to be the one to sacrifice their life.
Pietro kicked Chloe backwards and leaped over the edge. "PIETRO!" Chleo screamed, jumping after him and using her power to stick to the edge of Vormir and web Pietro. "Chloe! Let go! It has to be me!" He yelled up. "I can't let you die!" Chloe screamed back, tears now rolling down her face. "It's okay. You're going to be okay. Just get back with the stone. Bring them back. Being Kate back, bring your aunt back. Bring my sister back. Please." Pietro pleaded.
"Tell Wanda I love her. That I missed her. That she was the world to me. And I love you too, Chloe. You were like a sister to me. I'll see you on the other side." Pietro swung his arm, cutting through the web and plummeting towards his death. "PIETRO! PIETRO NO!" Chloe cried out, helplessly reaching out for him. There was no hope. He was gone.
A blindingly bright light shot past Chloe. She winced and squeezed her eyes shut. As she reopened them she lay in a shallow pool of water. She shook her head and sat up. She looked down at her bloody palm to see a glowing orange stone. She clenched it tightly in her hand, ignoring the pain that spiked throughout her cut up hand. She sobbed to herself quietly. "Pietro, I'm sorry." She whimpered.
"Did we get them all?" Bruce questioned.
"Are you telling me this really worked?" Rhodey laughed in disbelief. Chloe didn't even try and hide her tears or sobs as she sunk to her knees. "Chloe? Chloe where's Pietro?" Natasha asked softly, kneeling down beside her daughter. Chloe cried into her shoulder. "A soul for a soul. Pietro he-" She hiccuped through tears.Chloe stared out at the lake, her face still hot from crying for so long and so hard. She let out a shaky breath as she slammed her fist into the post beside her. Natasha grabbed her hand to bandage it before she could do it again. "You're all acting like he's dead, we have the stones. We can bring him back." Clint pointed out. Chloe shook her head slowly. "We can't bring him back. It was an everlasting exchange. No matter what we do...it can't be undone." Chloe sniffled. "It was supposed to be me. He was too fast- I tried to grab him and- I'm useless. I couldn't do anything." Chloe choked, trying to push back another wave of tears. Natasha pulled her into a hug. "Don't say that. You deserve to be here. Fate is fate." Thor spoke.
"Thor's right. You're the one here now and we're going to bring everyone back. For Pietro, for Yelena, for Kate. Alright?" Natasha told her. Chloe gave her a small nod. "Let's bring them back"(A/N: I know this is a really short chapter but I just needed to get something out today😭.
