Yearning For Freedom

A girl trapped in her home
Her mother never lets her roam
She longs to feel the breeze on her skin
To run and play, to live and begin

Her heart aches for love and adventure
But her mother's rules are a cruel censure
She dreams of the day she'll be free at last
To chase her dreams and forget the past

The world outside beckons to her soul
A place where she can finally feel whole
One day she'll break free from her mother's hold
And find the freedom she yearns for, bold

She imagines herself walking along the shore
Her feet sinking into the sand, feeling no hold
The weight of her mother's rules and restrictions
She wants to break free from these constrictions

She longs for the freedom to dance in the rain
To explore the world without any restrain
To laugh and play and to make new friends
And to never have her spirit bend

Her mother warns her of the dangers outside
But the girl knows she can handle the ride
She wants to be strong and independent
And to live life to the fullest extent

Maybe someday she'll find the courage to break free
To take a step into the world she longs to see
And when that day finally comes at last
Her spirit will soar, her heart beating fast

For she knows that the world is full of wonder
And with her mother's chains broken asunder
She can finally be the person she wants to be
To live, to love, to be wild and free.
